I'm wondering if anyone else on here suffers from horrible migraines. They've become a nearly daily occurrence for me lately. What I'm really wondering is what you all do for them? Medication does nothing for me, so any advice for off the wall remedies would be gladly accepted.

Thanks.

I don't get migraines often, but I do get them occasionally. If it's too bad for medication to do anything the only choice I usually have is to find a dark, quiet room and lay down for the rest of the day.

If your having them every day though, there are more powerful medications that doctors can prescribe, I believe some specifically designed to treat migraines as opposed to normal headaches. My sister is takes a few medications to prevent hers and they work fairly well, so if you haven't already I'd reccomend a doctors visit.

Yes. I suffer from chronic complex migranes. The only time i get them is when i do heavy activity without having eaten anything all day. In order for me to get rid of it. I have to be placed in a pitch black room and go to sleep. and excedrin migrane helps as well. Yes its excedrin strictly for migranes

sorry to hear meds aren't working, I guess what everyone else is saying, go find a dark and quite place to sleep

I get migraines 3-4x weekly sometimes more. They can last for hours to just about all day long. Sometimes I can take 2 Anacin and lay down in a dark room with an ice pack on my head and it'll take away the migraine or other times I'll have to turn to my Imitrex. But the cause of my migraines is because I have fluid built up on the brain that I have to get drained every so often. Knock on wood I haven't had a real bad migraine for about a week now.

The less noise and light the better

for my migraines i usually unplug the phone go into a dark room or use a sleep mask lay down with a cold wash cloth across my forhead and lay down it may not help right away but it helps me feel better

migraines

go get checked for allergies, eat right, start a work out routine 3 times a week, have your blood sugar checked. make sure your shoes are not old (bad shoes cause back/neck problems leading to migraines) and get tickled daily.

Do your best to reduce stress...

Haha that's funny. True, I should, but there's just no way!

I have tried a plethora of meds for my migraines - Zomig, Maxalt, Imitrex, daily Topomax, daily Inderal... the only thing that ever worked for me was a medication with a mild sedative (Midrin). My doctor was fairly convinced that I was both 1) addicted to them and 2) lying about not being pregnant. So he won't give me anything at this point. He says my migraines are my own fault. Hilarious.

I'm on the search for a new doc.

Thanks for the input - I appreciate it.

You need to figure out what causes the migraines? or what seems to set them off. Are they seasonal? Worse at a time of day? occur every day at a certain time. After you eat something? After you haven't eaten in a while?

I usually get them if I read on the computer too much without blinking...that will give me a migraine like nothing.

When I get my killers, I take 2 benadril and 2 aleve and find a dark, quiet room and sleep it off. After the migraine is gone, my neck muscles feel like I was doing a workout or something, very tight and sore but the headache itself is gone...

Read Wikipedia/Find A Specialist.

The average doctor cannot deal with your problem as you will find out after you have read the Wikipedia Page on your condition.🙁
I would ask your friends & relatives to give you a list of doctors or hospitals in your area. You will probably need to visit a Specialist.:ermm:

headaches

I used to suffer from vomiting migraines daily, and most of the medical doctors I went to were of no help. I visited more than two dozen physicians before finally finding a medication that helped.

It's important to know what the cause of the headaches is (enlarged blood vessels, constricted blood vessels, food allergies, and so on). Natural medicine has a great deal to offer as well.

What part of the country are you in? I'll see if I can find any practitioners in your area that I'm familiar with.

I am in Iowa - but I am limited because my insurance is through my graduate school. I have not yet gone to see the doctor here yet mostly due to time constraints but I plan to go soon.

Sorry, I didn't specify. I DID go see a specialist... well, a neurologist. But alas, he was a jerk.

A few weeks ago I had the worst migraine of my life. A family member had some vicodin from an accident, so he gave me one. It worked great. How do I bring that up to my doctor without sounding like a junkie??? haha

I've been having terrible headaches. I don't really get migraines, but I get really bad sinus headaches. Excedrin Sinus and a Claritin usually work for me. Sorry to hear that. Maybe your doctor can suggest something.

Yeah I get migraines, everytime my boss goes off on one lol
