I've just been wtching some old videos my wife and I made and I can only marvel (or cringe) at the misconecptions I had about tickling.
Of course, not all of these will ring true for everyone, as this is primarily drawn from my personal experience. Your mileage may vary.
Here's some stuff I believed about tickling but turned out to be misinformation at best, or pure porn-inspired fantasy at worst:
People laugh when tickled. For the most part, yes, laughter when tickled is a panic response. Not everyone reacts the same way, however, and not every ticklish person bursts out laughing.
People will struggle when tickled. Yes and no. Again, people will struggle as a panic response if you pin them down/immobilize them and they can't get away from the tickles. SOme people may not struggle at all and just enjoy the sensation.
When tickling feet, watch how the other foot reacts to see if a person is really ticklish or not. Not really true. I've seen folks enjoy having their feet tickled, even giggle and laugh, and the other foot remained perfectly still. Most likely the foot being tickled would jerk wildly away from your hands if you happen to strike a particularily sensitive spot.
People will wiggle their toes when their feet are tickled. This one is probably least true and happens only in porn. In fact, this one got me writing this post in the first place. People will laugh when tickled on their feet, they may even struggle if you hit their most sensitive spots, but people do not wiggle thier toes as a response to tickling. I looked at a video of me tickling my wife's feet and she's laughing, crying, begging for me to stop (all consensually, she likes the torture and denial-of-mercy play), and in this video I keep telling her to wiggle her toes as I tickle her for me to make it stop. It's pretty obvious it's artificial and doesn't have to do anything with the tickling, as she's obviously struggling to remember wiggling her toes for my sake.
People need to love tickling to love tickle torture. This is a tricky one, but let's say my wife doesn't like being tickled, she likes being tortured. She hates tickling and it's torture for her, and she likes THAT, not necessarily the tickling itself.
People become more ticklish when vulnerable or tied up. Not really true, people can become pretty desensitized and/or aroused when tied up or exposed.
Longer tickling means better. You need to hit the sweet spot and know when to quit, sessions that drag on for too long just become tedious. Your body becomes wooden, you get cold, and most likely tired/irritated.
Post orgasm torture increases ticklishness. Right at the moment of orgasm ticklishness does increase, but in my experience post orgasm your body just becomes wooden and wants for the stimulation to stop. The exception are very sensitive spots like genitals or nipples, but tickling there post orgasm usually becomes painful.
And thats it from me. Anyone else have thier own experiences or opinions to share?
