Something concerns me:

I looked ahead on the anderson spider silver vs dan henderson card and Arlowski is scheduled to fight o brian. However, they say that the fight wont be broadcasted which sucks. Is this due to the fact that his last fight was less than stealler. Is arlowsky going to be leaving the ufc??this is supposed his last fight before his contract runs out. There some rumor saying he might go to m1 which sucks cause cablevision doesnt have that network that broadcasts that show.

No.1 Heavyweight?

What a cluster in the mma heavyweight division. You have three guys in Fedor,Big Nog and Randy Couture who all could very well have the title.

First you have Fedor who's undefeated(aside from the Kosaka fight)and dominated his organization the entire time he was there.Including two very decisive wins over Big Nog.Unfortunately hasn't fought top ranked fighters in a while.

Then you have Noguiera, who with this past win over Tim Sylvia further cemented his legacy in the sport. He has fought top competition throughout his entire career.Maybe the most impressive career of any fighter today. His main blemishes being two loses to Fedor.

Then Randy Couture.Reigning UFC champ before resigning from the organization.Multiple championships but never really dominated competition like the above named fighters.Excellent at excuting winning game plans.

A Couture/Noguiera fight would at least narrow it down to two people worthy of the title of No.1 heavyweight.I think Couture see's a weakness in Fedor that he doesn't see in Noguiera.I don't think Couture has any way of beating Big Nog and he knows it.Or maybe he just wants to be the guy to give Fedor his first legitimate loss.Even though Fedor has defeated Big Nog twice,I see Randy having a better chance of beating Fedor than Noguiera.Right now they could easily market Couture/Noguiera as a superfight.Lets hope Randy steps up takes this challenge, but with all of the nonsense between him and the UFC we probably won't see it.Couture/Noguiera has a lot more appeal then Noguiera/Werdum.

I would bet he's leaving after this fight. He was promised a title fight and got screwed. It's sucks because he is a talented, popular fighter. He got criticised(spelling) because of his last fight but Werdum was a dangerous opponent and he fought a smart fight. There are plenty of fighters outside of the UFC I would love to see him fight including Fedor,Aleks,Kharitonov,Hunt,Barnett to name a few.I just hope he continues to fight if he leaves the UFC. :bubble:

great show

Almeida looked good
Nog looked like pride Nog.the way he pulled guard was sick.
Lesnar will be nasty in the future
Horn/Marquart was a great great fight
Boetsch looked like he has some nasty striking
Griffin in another 3 round entertaining fight.

I agree,it was a great show.Say what you will about Tim Sylvia but he is a hard guy to beat.Big props to Nog for finishing him in impressive fashion.Lesnar looked really strong.I would like him to fight a good striker that will really test his chin.Maybe we'll see Sylvia/Lesnar down the road.

The divisions north of 185 are a mess right now. There's no clear 'best' and it can be frustrating.

155 - Penn, no questions asked.
170 - GSP, no questions asked.
185 - Silva, no questions asked.
Hell, you could make a strong case for best fighter pound-for-pound for any of those three.
205 - Rampage? C'mon. He's got personality and a strong chin, but he's more of a brute than a fighter. Big names losing and unknowns stepping up has rocked that division to the point that a punching bag that can bleed like Forrest Griffin gets a title shot. Liddell, Wandy and Rua need to get their heads out of their asses to save that division.
265 - Couture went to all the trouble of coming out of retirement and kicking to asses soundly just to retire again, this time with the belt. I love Randy, but what he did to the standings was just wrong. You've got a belt? Get in there and fight. He's doing more harm than good.

And the card for 82 has a lot of great fights on there that won't get aired. Arlovski is only one of many that I'd love to see and one of the few I could see truly challenging Couture or Nogueira for the belt. Here's hoping he stays.

Melvin Manhoef

For anyone not familiar with this guy.His ground game is suspect but he has HEAVY hands.Similar to Robbie Lawler type punches with a muay thai twist. There has been a lot of talk about what would happen if he fought Anderson Silva. On the ground Melvin would flop but standing it would be a war. What do you all think?

Manhoef is in the Dutch fighters mould (good stand-up, poor ground game), just as Yvel, Hardonk, Schilt, etc.

At 205, why is Keith Jardine never mentioned? He won by TKO over Grifin, then got caught by Alexander, then came back and won a decision over Liddell (who is up there with Silva and Shogun as the best 205lb. fighter of all time). The no. 1 contender is someone he flattened. Why does he get no respect?

No clue. I like Jardine. He's got a unique style and works like a dog for his wins. I'd personally put him a win or two away from a title shot. Lot of respect to Keith Jardine as a fighter.

He should be one away. Actually Griffin is getting a title shot, and he got beat bad by Jardine. He beat Shogun and got a shot. Jardine got beat by Alexander, but then beat Liddell, but he isn't there, I don't get it. It's just Griffin is a fan favorite, but if Jardine wins whoever he fights next, he should get the next one, Liddell is one win away too,. but he shoudn't get a shot til after Jardine. Liddell/Evans as well as Jardine/Alexander rematch would be great. Evans and Jardine are training partners and good friends, ao I doubt you'll see them fight.

i figure Jardine will get Wand next as Chuck v Shogun is in June and Rashad v Thiago Silva and Tito v Lyoto are in May.

if Jardine fights before the Chuck/Shogun fight and wins then he HAS to get a title shot.if that doesn`t happen then my guess is that they give the Chuck/Shogun winner a shot.....despite shoguns loss

also...if Lyoto can beat Tito then he would also be up there.

March 1st can't come soon enough. 🙂'

It really is an excellent card.Even all of the prelims look good.Aside from the main event I am most interested in the Arlovski fight.

Arlowski will probably mop the floor with o brian then announce his leave from ufc to sign with m1. I am also looking for crocop to announce his leave from the ufc and sign with a federation(hopefull m1). Imagine that for a heavyweght division:

Coutre
fedor
alexander
arlowski
crocop

Most likely we wont see the arlowski fight which sucks. Im looking for anderson silva to win his bout against dan henderson. All in all a good ppv.

What a joke with this Fedor situation.I can't believe M1's reality show that they are going to be doing. Not so much the show but that the winner gets to fight Fedor. He is the man but there are worthy fighters that will give him a challenge. This just doesn't make sense. My only thought is that maybe the Couture fight will happen and Fedor is trying to still stay active but not risk injuries that could happen with a stronger challenger. That is definately a possibility. We'll see. 🙂

Fact is, Fedor dominated in Pride until every heavyweight in the world wanted to prove their skills by beating the best, and he knows he can't stay at his mythical status if he gets beat now, and with Cuture and Arlovski among others after him, he knows fighters of that caliber, eventually he'll get beat. He wants to retire undefeated by fightig no names.

oh shit....

Cro Cop got cut and may be fighting in japan again

F@*K!What the hell? The UFC's once promising HW division is vanishing.Couture's out,Crocop's out,and the way things look Arlovski is most likely out.I am a huge Crocop fan and will continue to watch him wherever he goes.He came in the UFC over confident and paid the price.Basically he's leaving to go fight easier competition.Hopefully he can regroup and ascend the ranks again.

Jardine/Silva would be great to see.Wanderlai needs a strong performance. It seems he hasn't been the same fighter since Mirko ko'd him.

I am a Jardine fan, he is best as an underdog, Griffin and Liddell were supposed to win, neither did. He was favored over Alexander and lost. No one gave him any respect until he beat Liddell, he won a stand up battle with a true knockout artist, people saw that he was the real deal, no one throws leg and body kicks like he does, if he utilizes them it may be hard for Silva to get in a clinch and Jardine went 3 rounds with Liddell, Silvva won't outpunch him.
