Well, A. Silva wasn't a champion until the UFC, while he started in Pride, I consider him a UFC guy. In Pride he was 3-2, so he probably wasn on roids but wasn't as dominant against fighters who might have been.

Nog has done what he always did, has the best chin in MMA, gets beat to Hell and then gets a submission win.

Rampage has quick hands and is a strong wrestler, always was.

I never said everyone in Pride was on Roids, but Cro Cop was dominant in Pride, and then sucked in the UFC. Silva is a small 205lbs.,dominated Pride, and is 1-3 in the UFC.

I just said you have to wait and see if Pride stars are good in the UFC. What was your point?

In my opinion, CC's and Wand's main problem is the fence: they don't know how to use it properly, because they fought in a ring during 90% of their career and they are mainly strikers.
A. Silva is a striker too, but his groundgame is better and he fought in Cage Rage in England before he came to the UFC. So he was accustomed to the fence.
Hendo used to gas out quickly at 185 lbs, even in Pride.

To an extent, but after Gonzaga, CCbuilt a cage in his gym to train in it. And still was beat on the ground and standing. Wand didn't have many fights in a cage, but he did have 3, and he was training with Couture.

I believe Crocop's problems were more mental than anything. He stated that his mental focus wasn't where it should be.Could that just be an excuse for losing, yes, but he didn't look anything like the fighter we saw in Pride.A big part could also be underestimating his opponents.

How different would the HW landscape be if Mirko had beaten Gonzaga?Shit, that would have set a superfight between him and Couture.Where is Gonzaga now? That has to be the biggest upset in UFC history.I remember being drunk at my buddies and watching(and hearing) that headkick and being in total disbelief.:wow:The look on my face must have been priceless.

If he needs to fight a couple of low level fighters to get his head back, let him.Believe I will be watching every fight.Mirko's best years may be behind him, who's to say.The aspect of the game he would need to improve most is wrestling.IMO.His ground game has greatly improved.I was impressed at the end of the first round of the Kongo fight when he was throwing his legs looking for a sub.He looked really good in that first round.

As a Crocop fan I look forward to seeing him fight. It would be nice to see a LHK connect to some poor bastard. It's been a while.:cool2:

C'mon,his leg is a f#*kin' missile.

Wand's old UFC fights were 9 years ago and he lost against Ortiz and Belfort who were at the top of their game.
Maybe it's a misunderstanding from me, but I believed Wand decided to train with Couture AFTER his loss against Liddell.
BTW, there is a gap between "fighting in a cage" and "training in a cage".

I read an interview asking Wand how he thought about the cage, he said he was training with Couture to get ready, then he was asked about the upcoming Liddel/Jardine fight, so he was in September.

There is a difference of course, but any hard sparring in a cage (which any good camp does a lot) should make you somewhat comfortable with the cage.

My original statement was Wand as well as CC were on roids in Pride. I could be wrong, but.......

The conclusion still looks premature to me.

I freely admmitted I could be wrong, but based on what is in front of us, it is my guess, CC lived up to absolutely none of the expectations people had, and Wand is the smallest LHW I've ever seen and yet dominated the best in PRIDE, and while going three rounds with Lidell is nothing to be ashamed of, he showed none of the explosiveness he had in PRIDE. So it's not my conclusion, it's my guess.

Crocop looked a lot different in his fight with Mizuno. He has made some serious adjustments in training. My first impression was he looked slower and that was probably due to the added weight. But after watching it a couple times it seems like he was trying to execute a different style. He looked like a brawler instead of the more technical fighter he used to be and that's what he needs to do if he ever wants to be successful in the UFC.Even though he defeated Johnny Nobody it's still good to see him win.

Crocop has been hitting the weights most definately.

Tim sylva has left the ufc to fight in adrenaline. Get this: he is thinking of fighting fedor. Lol. I think big tims skills are best reserved for another organization known as the WWE. I think he would get wrecked if he were to go toe to toe with Fedor. Standing up, submission, it doesnt matter. Come on we know what we want to see. Fedor vs couture

This wednesday we get to see coach rampage jackson Woot!! rampage has alot of personality i really look forward to this years ultimate fighter. Plus we get a free ppv on spike.

Tim would destroy Fedor standing up.Say what you want about Tim Sylvia but he is a lot tougher than people give him credit for.Yes,he has had some boring fights but he is also a two time world champion. Before getting subbed by Minotauro,Tim was bringing it.I can't see Fedor taking that kind of punishment and surviving.I am a Fedor fan and would love to see that fight but I don't think it would be in Fedor's best interest to stand and bang with Tim Sylvia.

If he were smaller, he wouldn't be a fighter, but Tim is not little. Standing against him, wouldn't be smart for Fedor.

Holy crap the fight is official,Fedor and Tim in July.Dangerous fight for Fedor but will help rebuild his crediblity if he can pull out a win.How mad will Randy be if Tim wins?I wonder if it will be in a cage or a ring, either way I can't wait.:bubble:

Tim Sylvia winning would be the biggest disgrace to the sport of MMA in its history.

Snail Shell

Fedor can take Sylvia down. Sylvia has a good sprawl, but it's useless against hip throws.

We might see the most agressive Tim Sylvia ever.Really,he has nothing to lose and the world to gain with this fight. If he loses,oh well he lost to arguably the greatest mma fighter ever but if he wins he would make history.I do agree that Tim winning would be a disgrace and I hope it doesn't happen.

Just a random clip of classic K-1 moment.....

Crocop to fight Jerome LeBanner in June. That should be a good fight but will definately be a test for Mirko. At this point in his career I think this is a must win for Crocop.

On another note, what are your guys' thoughts on UFC 84?This really is the best card in a while.

Penn/Sherk is gonna be unreal.

It's pretty stacked. UFC 85 took a hit however. Liddell is now injured and his fight with Evans is on hold.

Snail Shell

No it shouldn't. Hughes is going to take Alves down and break him in half. Hughes by either TKO or Submission, first round.

Snail Shell

That's been confirmed. Irvin vs. Evans, which should be a pretty fun slugfest. 🙂

Snail Shell

Evans is an enigma. He has all the tools but he hesitates and doesn't perform at his best all the time. He seems to lack a killer instinct. Koscheck is the same way. Irvin will probably win by decision.
