I just recently purschased the Star Trilogy and was shocked to see key scenes in all three movies changed "for the better" all i can say is that im happy i kept the old VHS trilogy because im not impressed.

In 'Return of the Jedi' these changes are numerous and make a joke of the movies end;

1) When the second Death Star is blown up and the celebration sequence that follows showed emotion and added the meaning of the movie that was desired, the original was brilliant now its a joke. The addition of Naboo was all well and good until you can hear Jar Jar Binks in the back ground and i thought made the once serious scene a joke.

2) After Luke returns to Endor and burns Vader he looks into the darkness and sees Obi Wan, Yoda and Vader this again added emotion to the scene of how Vader had completed the circle and once again is a Jedi in traditional clothing, now with the modifications we see the actor of the recent movie inserted instead of the old dignified figure of Anikan not the figure of death and turmoil of the Jedi.

Maybe i had to much time of my hand today and/or im a huge closet Star Wars fan ready to be let out but anyway thats my feelings.

No, nothing is worse than Greedo shooting first.

One could argue that Anakin reverted to the last time he could live on his own, or be considered mostly human, instead of being kept alive through machines, prostetics, and his hate. He would probably prefer to look that way instead of a middle aged trunk and a head.

My VHS version isn't the original. It's the digitally remastered version from the mid 1990s with some actual CGI enhancements. For example, Episode IV has a scene where Han Solo is talking to Jabba the Hut, promising him the money he owes him. In Episode VI, the Bantha now has a CGI beak in its throat. I'll have to check it again, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't have young Anakin or Jar Jar. Lucas must have made yet further changes for the DVD set.

Star Wars Modifications

Oh Come on just watch Hard Ware Wars and all will be better 🙂

See the digitally enhanced version, it is even funnier (because it makes fun of the new Star Wars digital editions).

You'll Laugh
You'll Cry
You'll kiss 3 bucks goodbye!

This is actually the first version I saw when I first "internalised" Star Wars about three years ago and nope, it has Sebastian Shaw appearing as the spectral Anakin and no Naboo celebration scene in the re-jigged "across the galaxy pan" Endor party. It does have however the most unbelievably lame beak on the Sarlacc, Greedo shooting first (George, what the hell were you playing at?), digitised mushes on banthas, altered Death Star explosions so it's now all blue and glittery with an expanding torus of plasma instead of just a red blast, and CG mini-characters in transition shots.
