Mononucleosis?

Hey guys. Here's the deal--I have had a fever for almost two weeks straight now. I NEVER get fevers, my norm is 97.3 and it's been 99+. I have no other symptoms, so I'm afraid it's either mono or an internal infection....in which case I'm almost hoping it IS mono. I dont' wanna wind up in a hospital. Those scare me ><.

So do me a favor--those of you who're prayerful, pray. I'll let you guys know how my white blood count comes out-test tomorrow. Thanks!

A fever in and of itself will never kill anyone, just make you feel like crap. A temp of 99 is nothing to fret over. Take some tylenol as you need it. If it peaks around 101, then maybe there's something up . . . then again, it could just be a simple cold.

Riddle me this, I'm curious: had you not taken your temp, would you have known you had a "fever" in the first place?

If it were mono, you'd be feeling just plain cruddy (not a real medical term, but I use it a lot), tired, and be having bed-soaking night sweats and swollen adenoids.

Bottom line, your body has a very good way of letting you know something is up; listen to it. If you're otherwise feeling well and have no symptoms, don't sweat it. And if you are, then you did the good thing to see an MD. I'm sure its fine, but all the best....

Mono sucks... Trust me on this one. You don't want it. It never really goes away and you can't do anything for it other than wait.

Hound: Yeah I wouldda known, that's why I took my temp in the first place. I'm very sensative to temprature change. I don't have a sore throat so I'm hoping it indeed is not mono-I should know this afternoon and will deffo let ya'll know.

Good news guys--not mono. Bad news--they don't know WHAT it is :s they say it might just simply be I'm busier lately, running around a lot and I'm not used to it, so my temperature goes up. Basically, I'm stressing myself into a fever ><

I have a doctors appointment on Thursday. I'll keep you guys updated.

Well, that's a good thing! Just be mindful of symptoms.

But you gotta be careful, unless you're feeling sick, a simple fever can turn into a long string of drawn-out tests and procedures that may in the end turn out fruitless. I hope you had a doctor who uses his noodle rather than fancy labs and images to treat you. After all, they do call it "practicing" medicine.
