movie help please :)

Also Road House!

Its not necessarily a good movie or a great movie. But its so awesome at the same time. And its Patrick Swayze and Sam Elliot kicking ass and taking names...nothing wrong with that in my book. Like I said its not groundbreaking cinema like Nosferatu (Which I recommend as well seeing as how I don't think I've seen any silent films on this list) but if you want to break from the ground breakers and just see something fun this is one of my favorites to turn on lol.

*Anything by Wes Anderson (aka...Rushmore, The Royal Tenenbaums, The Life Aquatic, Darling Limited....)

- Musicroxmysox09
Wes Anderson IS indeed magnificent, but I felt that he's a bit too dry and referential for casual viewers who don't have the benefit of a film school or classical education; Aimee's just looking for good, general stuff, which is why I didn't recommend any of them, but if she's feeling adventurous, then I can't argue with Mel's suggestion because they are worth it.

Hey, I forgot to mention Everybody's fine with Robert De Niro and Drew Barrymore. I loved it. If someone has already said it, sorry for repeating 🙂

A few westerns... and others

I have to add a few great Westerns...

Tombstone
The Outlaw Josey Wales
Lonesome Dove Series w/Duvall and Jones
Dances with Wolves

I honestly don't think I can say I have seen a Western with Robert Duvall that wasn't good... Broken Trail and Open Range are two good ones.

Few others...

Blade Runner
Equilibrium w/Christian Bale

If it's not too late, I've got an expanded list. Here are some must-see horror movies:

Alien
An American Werewolf in London

Now that Gin-gerale has put a stop to the endless cinematic shenanigans, I'll lend my recommendations, being among the more experienced cineastes of the forum. Alchemy, AnnieHall, Musicroxmysox09, and gothfreakhell might be able to run circles around me about music...but I don't know nobody who can best me at movies!

She's right Aimesley, over half the shit recommended is crap. Unfortunately, I can only recommend good shit you have to see that doesn't require a film school degree to understand or appreciate (which is why The Brown Bunny, Freddy Got Fingered or David Lynch movies aren't on here) so this list won't be as thorough as I'd like it to be.

...And I'll stop here or this'll go on too long. J-Z to follow in a PM if you'd like.

You know, I'm kinda curious to see what your J-Z list is too.

First and foremost, this. ^

Secondly, if you'd like I can go through and cross off about 100 of the movies suggested. Because they're ass. I promise.

For example, do NOT waste your time seeing ANY of the Transformer movies. Honestly, little to no plot, a lot of explosions, and Megan Fox looking dirty as fuck. You're not missing anything if you haven't seen them. In addition to any and all Adam Sandler movies and the majority of the recent blockbuster hits. Seriously, give the word and I will weed out all of the crap that people are throwing at you. No offense to anyone - I love you all - I just don't want her eyes to bleed out of her skull watching ANYTHING that Will Ferrell is in.

Lastly, if you haven't already, you should absolutely watch Disney's Fantasia, Forrest Gump, and the Kill Bill saga. And I may come back and give you more later.

I almost agree with you completely, but Sandler and Ferrell have had their moments: Billy Madison, Punch Drunk Love, Funny People, Click, Stranger than Fiction, and Anchorman should be required viewing 😎
