Movies To Avoid

I thought I'd start this thread to tip off others about recent movies that aren't worth your time. If I spare two hours of anyone's life, then my mission has been accomplished.

The first one is "Legally Blonde 2." Wow, this is one of the worst movies I've ever seen, and another example of Hollywood'd inability to make a decent sequel to a hit movie. The story revolves around Reese Witherspoon's little dog from the first film. No...I'm not kidding!

The makers of this film were so bereft of ideas when they made Legally Blonde 2 that they wrote a whole screenplay based on the dog. From the first five minutes, to the last, the movie is about the dog! This movie just STINKS!!! Please don't rent it...

"They" - by Wes Craven. Looks REALLY REALLY good on the box, and the synopsis on the back SOUNDS really really good. But the movie itself is total crap and a complete disappointment. It's not worth watching for FREE. :sowrong:

Is They...

The one with the people having some sort of nightmares? Or at the end a lady gets dragged into a closet ? I think I recall watching it. Is there a weird swimming pool thing in it?

Let's see. BigBrownEyes watched a movie with Reese Witherspoon in it, and actually gives a shit whether there's a plot or not?

Tron

This is easy.

Any movie starring Robin Williams. My stomach starts to heave just thinking of his name.

The Sean Man

Here are a couple recent "must avoid" movies:

"The Hulk"
The most recent James Bond movie

Drew

Yes, "They" is supposed to be a movie about those creepy creatures that hide under your bed or in your closet and haunt you at night when you're a child. Good concept, but it failed horribly in an actual movie setting.

Mimi

I'm Sad To Say...

I actually paid to watch that piece of crap!! And yes it was an interesting concept!
A couple years ago there was a movie called Mutant ( I think) where kids were dying of some disease and the cure caused some sort of mutation.
It SUCKED!!

Tron

Hallie YEAH!

Yeah, Hallie Berry was in Die Another Day. Gotta agree with Drew. I fell asleep in the theater...except when Hallie was onscreen:devil:

The Sean Man

Another lousy flick was "Darkness Falls." The premise has something to do with the origins of the Tooth Fairy, and that he/she/it is really a heinous, murderous creature. It was a somewhat interesting idea, but the movie is routine and features extremely poor acting by its no-name leads.

I agree with you on "Darkness Falls", BBE. I had heard so much hype about the movie that I decided I HAD to rent it and see it. Blargh. It was horrible.

Mimi

Anyone besides me make a "Wrong Turn" at the theater?

The Sean Man

Darkness Falls...

Gave me the creeps. It wasn't well acted but the premise struck me.

Tron

This was kinda comical about "Darkness Falls", we rented the dvd cause the movie got such hype......and to see "bonus scenes that were too horrifying to be shown in theaters".
Well, the "horrifying bonus scenes" turned out to be nothing more than the same scenes during the climax, shot at different angles.
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, I'm SOOOOOOOO scared!!😱 😱 😛

I rented Wrong Turn , it wasn't worth the $3.50..very glad I didn't pay a theatre prices to see it.

Another recent one I would recommend avoiding that I saw the other day is "Stuck on You". That was quite possibly one of the worst movies I've ever seen, in my opinion. It had a good cast, but the concept was utterly stupid. The theater ushers know me well because I go in there with my friends most weeks, as I see a lot of movies, and they told us that "Stuck on You" isnt doing any business at all. That's one current flick I would advise TMF'ers pass on.

The Sum of All Fears was the dumbest movie I have ever seen, It runs in the family with the Douglas's was worse

Yes, I agree. I was glad that I saw it on cable, for no additional charge, and didn't waste $10 in a theater. 😀

Tron, I think "Mutant" might have actually been "Mimic". Kids in NYC are dying, and scientists mutate some roaches, ending the disease. But about 7 or so people die, thus the scientists are the bad guys for tampering with nature and causing about 7 people to die. So much for the human toll in curing polio..... it was one of those anti-science movies kind of like "Hollow Man" or "Deep Blue Sea", and they have all been pretty bad; somehow "Mimic" has spawned a straight-to-video sequel.

A REALLY bad one was "Charlies Angel's 2". I know there are some fans of it on the TMF, but #1 was a good blend of goofyness, stunts, homage, originality and plot. #2 was just artistic theft, explosions and bad emoting. I rented this to watch on a long airplane trip to NYC recently and wanted to crash the plane into the Columbia/Tri-Star movie lot.

Haven't seen it, but I hear "Gothica" is pretty bad. Same with "Cat in the Hat". Please, please do not make a "Horton Hears a Who" film!!!

I loved "Kill Bill Pt. 1" but it is NOT for everyone, even for most people.

I find that anything made by the Farrelly Brothers rank as the dumbest and the most idiotic; utter excrement. I had no doubt that "Stuck On You" would be as moronic as the trailers.
I usually avoid films based on old sitcoms or TV dramas. Most of them are second rate garbage.
It's unfortunate, but even Disney (my wife's big thing) have been coming out with poorly conceived animated formulas that are merely rehashings and recyclings of the same story, over and over again, and they make more money over the Burger King tie ins than the gate receipts. Boring!
The great comedies are now a memory. Too bad.
