is there any musicians that everybody loves...except you?

my one is elvis. i know thats a bit unpopular but thats pretty much the point of this thread. it makes no sense because i love old rock and roll but iv tried and i just cannot see the appeal...

i know its not just me dont be shy own up!

Roxette
I mostly listen to all kinds of Rock from Elvis to Rolling Stones, to CCR, Led Zep, Lynard Skynard etc to 80's Hair Metal, to Grudge, Alternative Metal, Gothic Metal (With out Doom/Death Metal sounds or Foul Language) I like my music clear of the F bomb, even though i say it i just dont like to hear it in my music.

But for some reason I have always liked Roxette

I can't get into metal. I just can't take it seriously. And whatever you would describe Ke$ha's music as...yeah, can't take that shit at all.

I’m with you on Elvis man. I never considered his music to be true rock, more akin to redneck pop. Was he influential; yes. Did he break new ground for others; yes. But if I never hear another Elvis song again, I would be perfectly happy.

I always found Jimmy Hendrix to be highly overrated as well. No question he was an exceptional guitarist, but his songs just grate on my nerves.

for me its Kanye West. i mean come on, hes blatently racist, and WHY exactly is it, that he thinks hes the god of hip hop/rap?

oh yeah, and lil wayne. he sounds like utter shit people! " ima pick the world up and ima drop it on ur fuckin HEEEEEYA!!!! " WTF IS THAT?!?!?!?!?!

see this is the thing! to be honest i dont think he was that ground breaking. i think the more influential artists were the old rythm and blues boys like muddy waters, the blues inspired a generation of people in England and paved the way for bands like the stones. for ground breaking rock and roll see chuck berry. puts elvis's music to shame!

gota disagree with hendix though. i love that guy!

Agreed!

Anyone I ever knew who shared your love for Hendrix admitted that LSD was a heavily influencing factor.

Stay off the acid man – it’ll fry your brain like a bucket of KFC extra-crispy.

I like to listen to ALL kinds of music from Different Genres, The only kind i don't like that much is Rap music. I can't get in to it at all. I can take Rock, Metal (non Death/Doom), Pop, 80's New Wave/Synth Pop, Country, Trance Techno, Soft Rock (Fleet wood mac, Foreigner etc), Swing , Frank Sinatra type music, Oldies, Classic Rock, New age, Ambient, Piano, and Classical, Soft jazz. for me it depends on the Sound and the way the music flows. I don't pay to much attention to Lyrics, except i ban all songs with the F word in it or find a cleaner version of it. I Listen to A LOT of music lol.

Well, Elvis in the 70s was pretty much watered-down pop drivel, but those early Sun records in the 50s......some of the greatest music ever recorded.

Now Sting is another story.... that whiny voice is just so nerve-wracking.

And the final years of John Coltrane. They called it "free jazz" but I truly don't get it.

I don't get the appeal of Lady Gaga. But then again, I hear this from most of the people I know. I'm basing her popularity on what I read and hear on the news as opposed to people I actually know.

REM, U2, SPRINGSTEEN who all manage to both overblown and bland at the same time

I never got the mojo on Kip Winger, king of the posers.

Bob Dylan. Decent songwriter Terrible vocalist.

Tom Waits. I just don't get it.

Also while I don't mind The Beatles it really fucks me off how its almost illegal to have anything other than godlike praise for them.

Pardon my french.

Blimey, dont get me started on this thread, I have hundreds of candidates but Springsteen is up there for me. I have people who stan round me on Saturday afternoons at the footy who sing better than him, and they are all pissed.

Dylan? The man is unique, a guitar/ vocalist who cannot sing and cannot play the Guitar....pure genius!

I'm with you on elvis, just don't get it at all. His voice is just so non-descript. Even people who can't sing can pull off a decent elvis impersonation.

Don't get Queen either and am with Cave In on the beatles. They're ok but massively overrated.

Quite like my indie music, albums i've bought recently are Kasabian, Kings of Leon, the Aliens, UNKLE and Cave Singers. But for some reason i find the Killers stuff quite bland

Oh yeh, can't stand the the Kaiser Chiefs brand of shouty, chanty, monotonous shite.

Lady Goodball is more like it. How anyone can like her is beyond me.

We used to have a saying in the Navy: opinions are like assholes. Everyone's got one, and they all stink 😉

about 95% of all trendy/popular music of the past near 20 yrs.

I feel bad about it, but I never got into Jimi Hendrix. I don't know why. I mean, he's not bad, but listening to his stuff was never the life-changing experience it was supposed to be in college.

Oh man, I can't even imagine life without metal. A silent existence.

I hate new rap. I don't get the appeal of hardcore rap. I love hip hop, but rap is a dying art. Ke$ha, Uffie, and Gaga are also just terrible, but Gaga moreso in image than anything else. There's different, and then there's wack. Her style is on par with what dogs leave in coiled piles on lawns.

But you guys are off on Dylan and Hendrix. Not life changing, but still good, and without LSD at that!

I don't think I'd ever call Kings of Leon or The Killers indie...
