My 1st baby is having surgery on a torn ligament in her leg. I am nervous because she is 13 years old. She is my 1st baby, had her since 10 weeks..

Awwww...best of luck to her. Murphy sends his best wishes:cuddle:

JPie, I know the anxiety you feel. She is precious beyond words. My strongest hopes and wishes for a clean operation and total recovery.

Do you have a picture of her you can post?

My wife and I have a dalmation Chelsea who just turned 14. We've only had her for the last three years, but we love her very much. They are beautiful animals.

howdy

good luck! Dalmatians are very awesome dogs, they usually always bounce back.

I'd feel the same way you do. From one pet owner to another, I wish you the best of fortune.

Having a doggie myself, I totally know how you're feeling.
Hope, everything will go perfectly fine and your baby will recover in no time :)

I have a dog myself. My thoughts are with you and your doggie. Good Luck! Best wishes for a speedy recovery!

I hope all went well Judy, best to you and your doggie.:)

Awww, poor little sweetheart. Please let us know how your honey's surgery went and that she made it through okay!

Everything is OK

I kept close tabs with the vet because I was very nervous as well, and everything went well. Like Judy, I was concerned because of her advanced age so last week I had a blood test done to make sure there would be no chances of a blood clot and that all her vital organs were working well. The office also reassured us that it's not that uncommon for dogs that age to have similar operations. Right now, she is resating comfortable at the vet, and I plan to pick her up tomorrow morning. After that the long line of meds kick in, but I am glad that it was something we can treat, and it will benefit her in the long run.

I have had animals almost my whole life, and I love her more than all the animals I have had put together, and I have had alot

can't wait to see my baby tomorrow! we will be sure to extra spoil her when she gets home!

Thank you all for your concern and wishes, unlike David she is my 1st animal, before I could not have understood how much you could love an animal, she is a special dog. I will post pics of her this week, she is a beauty!

Awwww hope that your Dalmation doggie is alright and everything goes smoothly and great for your little baby doggie. I know what you are saying-I love dogs and love animals myself..ever since I was a young child I have had lots of pets.
Pets become a very beloved sentimental and very precious member of the family. Hope that the surgery goes smooth w no glitches. Hope your Dalmation doggie will be feeling much better and healed up soon after surgery, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your Dalmation doggie of 13 yrs. That is a very long time and I imagine you are quite in love and love your doggie-your dog is one of your greatest pals, love her to bits.

So best luck with the surgery Jpie1 and may God be with your Dalmation doggie before, during and especially after surgery. Hope this will be the start of many more great terrific glorious fun years with your doggie. Take care and God bless. Hugs to you!!:bunny:

She's home safe and sound

I left my office at noon to pick her up from the vet. She is lying next to me as we speak. Basically she is very alert and very much herself, and was surprisingly mobile considering her circumstances. Being an ex football player, I had a torn ACL, and my memory from it was not pleasant. I felt like my leg was sitting in a pot of molton lava, so I can imagine her pain. As I expected, she was in pain when I tried to manuver her out of the car.

There is a long list of meds which I had to organize on an Excel spreadsheet (being there was so much) so it's easier for me to track. The only thing I didn't expect to see was a yellowish substance remaining on her leg. As it turns out, it's the solution they get before the operation to sterilize the area to be operated on. I don't remember it from my operation.

I plan on working from home tomorrow and Friday. I have to go into the office on Thursday or I would be home the remainder of the week.

Needless to say, it's great to have her home. There was a huge void in the house last night.

I am so glad she is home with you once again.. I know it is lonely with out your buddy with you.. when we recently went camping- we were not able to bring saydee with us for she is not that obiedient yet.. I was so lonely missed her so... your love is the thing that is gonna make her back to her normal self in no time..

HUGSS/Lisa

Oh, I'm SO glad it went well!! I hope she has a full and speedy recovery!

so I just feed dog food out of my hand to my baby, she has one of those hood things on, cooked her a nice egg...she is resting comfortably.

I'm so happy to hear she's doing well! Dogs truly are our best friends, and it's good to see one of them receiving such excellent care and the huge amount of love yours is getting. :triangle:

You guys rock! ;)

It'll be day by day...

but I see a slight improvement in her walking. I wasn't expecting her to be able to put any weight on her leg, but the couple of times I took her out, I noticed that she tried to put some weight on the bad leg, as little as it might have been

One thing I forgot to mention earlier is that she has a patch on her to porovide a steady stream of pain killers. It works like a nicotine patch. I have to remove it on Friday.

I want to take the time to thank you all for your support, well wishes, and kind words. This really helps Judy and me get through this.

I will keep you all posted as time goes on. :)
