My Yearly NFL Preseason Predictions...and a note on the Vikings

C'mon Kis, you knew I was going to make some sort of Cleveland joke in there! You would have shocked if I didn't. I could bring up stuff as to why Cleveland usually is the butt of jokes, but why since everyone makes fun of them? "Mistake by the Lake" comes to mind...

*yawn*

Cleveland critics should come up with better and fresher material because "mistake by the lake" is about 40 years old. But like my mother always used to say, if folks didn't care then they wouldn't talk about you. Publicity is publicity.....even the crappy jokes.

Yeah, we might be known as the "mistake by the lake" but at least we don't deal with earthquakes, brush fires, mudslides, and faced with the possibility that portions of my state may get washed off the West Coast.

But, Colt McCoy is a good QB. I have been very impressed with him. With this coaching staff, he might actually be a very good QB. Brady Quinn also would have been a very good QB, but his coaching staff sucked. Peyton Hillis is a straight up beast. With McCoy improving, this will help Hillis. Unfortunately, they are in the same division as the Ravens and Steelers. The Bengals are doomed anyway. The owner is a fool and they will continue to suffer because of his ineptness.

I think Brady Quinn was the biggest waste of money since Tim Couch! I'm glad to see him go. We got Hillis out of the deal and that was worth any trade we could come up with.

I think Sexy Rexy gets a ring this year, which will piss off the Patriots. That would make my football season....

Although the idea of Braylon big mouth Edwards getting a ring absolutely nauseates me, he's only one cog in that team's wheel. As long as he can catch, manage to hold onto the ball, and know where the out-of-bounds lines are, who knows?

Kis, it will be a pleasure watching the Browns have yet another crappy season, while my Pats make the playoffs yet again. even without the cheating incident that really had little effect!

Why are you yawning? You know, as well as the rest of the country knows, people make fun of Cleveland. I mean, if you go across the country, how many people say "I want to visit Cleveland?" without visiting some relatives? But you hear people wanting to visit LA all the time. Earthquakes do not happen all the time, and the wildfires are not in the city of LA, just the outskirts. Despite that, people still like to come to LA.

But we digress. The Browns will be improved. They will actually be decent again. However, once they get good again, that good ol' Cleveland curse comes back. Oh well, hope springs eternal I guess...

Brady Quinn really is a good QB. Romeo Crennel and Mangini have no idea on how to work with QBs. If Denver traded Kyle Orton, Brady Quinn would definitely beat out Tim Tebow for the job. You did get Hillis, but Quinn wasn't a bad QB. He's better than Alex Smith that's for sure.

Oh yeah, Braylon Edwards is not a Jet. He went to San Francisco. Edwards is a good receiver, just not a great one. He will do ok.

In the end, I think the Jets pull it off. I think Brady will see a flood of Jets coming his way. To beat the Patriots, you must get to Brady. I think the Jets have the personnel to get it done.

Why are you yawning?

I usually yawn when a subject matter appears old and tired.......you know like 40 year old Cleveland jokes.

You know, as well as the rest of the country knows, people make fun of Cleveland.

Yeah, many who have NEVER visited the city or those who lack creativity tend to do that.

I mean, if you go across the country, how many people say "I want to visit Cleveland?" without visiting some relatives? But you hear people wanting to visit LA all the time.

Sorry I am not one of those people. I have relatives in CA and know a few others......it's not the place for me.....at all. If it's wild and crazy it's coming out of the LA area; I'm a boring drab chick from the drab city of Cleveland. Don't need your city's/state's excitement.....I'm all good.

Earthquakes do not happen all the time........

One time is too many for me.
and the wildfires are not in the city of LA, just the outskirts.

And that makes it okay because??? We don't have wildfires in Cleveland......at all. Do some of the folks burn stuff? Unfortunately yes. But acres of blazing brush fire is not my idea of an ideal state.

Despite that, people still like to come to LA.

I'm good right over here.....but thanks for your obvious concern.

But we digress.

Well we can agree on something...........

The Browns will be improved. They will actually be decent again. However, once they get good again, that good ol' Cleveland curse comes back. Oh well, hope springs eternal I guess...

Well I guess it's good you have the Lakers or I could pretty much say the same for you.

Brady Quinn really is a good QB.

If you say so; he did very little here but play a couple of games and get hurt. Well our loss is Denver's gain I guess. I'd rather have Hillis; he was more productive in his first game as a Cleveland Brown than Quinn was in his entire career here.

Both Crennel and Mangini came from the Pats camp.....maybe they both should've been left there. I don't know anything about Shurmur; I just hope he works out because I can barely keep up with the coaching roulette. Somebody find Marty Schottemheimer and beg him to come back if this doesn't work out!

Oh yeah, Braylon Edwards is not a Jet. He went to San Francisco. Edwards is a good receiver, just not a great one. He will do ok.

As long as we're not contending with his shenanigans, don't let the door hit him on the way out!

I know, our defense took Brady to the woodshed. He was spitting turf by the time Shawn Jones got finished with him. They're a good enough team, but as I was telling my delusional friend maniac, they haven't had the juice since they were busted cheating. Even with the best record of their franchise history, the Giants spanked them in the SB like a bad toddler!

Your funny kis! you can relive that one fluke game all you want. if the Pats played the browns another 50 games, theyd beat them 45 out of 50! and speaking of getting old, that whole cheating thing is stale. they have proved they are just as good since. lets see the browns win 18 games in a row. hell, lets see the browns win 2 in a row! :laughhard:

At the end of the day Kis, I know you have pride for your city. Many others outside of Cleveland make fun of the place, and will probably continue to do so. By the way, the wildfires are not exactly a deterrent for people wanting to come live in LA. They would rather live in LA with all the other stuff it has to offer. What does Cleveland offer? Seriously, what does Cleveland offer if someone wanted to live in the United States and had to pick a city? Yeah, enough said....

Back to the Browns. I think Quinn didn't do well in Cleveland because he was not put in a system to help his talents. Brady Quinn will be a system guy. You put him in the proper system and he will be fine. Looks like he is doing MUCH better in Denver. I think Colt McCoy will be a fine QB for the Browns, plus it gets the pressure off of Hillis. Let's hope Hillis is not a one year wonder. (I hope not, I have him in fantasy football)

Oh yeah, what LA curse is there? We don't have moments such as "The Fumble", "The Drive", "Red right 88", The Bulls, Lebron choking, Lebron bailing....etc...

I like the fact the Browns beat the Patriots. I enjoyed every single moment of it. But I think Maniac is right. If ther Browns played the Pats 10 times, the Pats win 9 times. Cleveland will come in 3rd place this year in the division. Cincinnati is a complete mess at this time.

This NFL season will be survival of the fittest. Because of the lockout, the Super Bowl champion was the team that was able to adjust to the shortened off season. Here are my thoughts with each division...

AFC North:

It is ravens or Steelers. I think the Ravens win the division. I know they are tired of losing to the Steelers and Flacco needs this to vault his career to the next level. The Ravens are more hungry, plus the Steelers opened their mouths way too much this lockout offseason. The Browns are much improved. I will never like the Browns but Peyton Hillis and Colt McCoy are some players! I liked Colt McCoy because he is a winner. He was overlooked completely and now you can see him maturing. This could be a breakout year for him and give that drab city of Cleveland something to cheer about. Plus, Hillis is a beast. Cincy sucks period. I like the Bengals too, but they will suck because their owner is a moron...

AFC South: The Colts still win the division. They won't roll through, but they will still win. Why? The Texans will not get over the hump. In fact, I think Arian Foster will have an average year. He lost his fullback, which was a major reason why he got all those yards. The Jags still do not have a QB or a defense. The Titans are in rebuilding mode. Even with a hurt Manning, the Colts still win the division.

AFC East: Talk about a war. The Jets and Patriots are going to have bloodbaths in their games. Belichick will never say it in the media, but he hates Rex Ryan. You know he does. Tom Brady hates Rex Ryan. You know he does. The fact that the Jets put out the Patriots only fuels the Patriot's fire. But, the Jets still win because they have the Patriots rattled. The fact that Rex is talking trash then put out the Patriotsis getting to Belicheat and Brady. Should be fun. The Dolphins are the Dolphins. An average team. The Bills will be better, but they are unfortunate to be in the division with the Pats and Jets.

AFC West: Chargers all the way. The Chiefs were a one hit wonder. The Broncos will be better, but not yet. The Raiders are well, the Raiders. I hope they start Terrelle Pryor just so I can watch them look even more horrific....

NFC North: To me, this is the most competitive division in the NFL. ALL four teams have a chance to win the division. The Packers are loaded but everyone is gunning for them. The Bears want to prove they are still an elite team. The Vikings picked up McNabb and I think #5 will be out to prove to everyone he is still a winner. The Lions are going to be a scary team. They are starting to believe and Ndamukong Suh is a freakin MAN CHILD. A BEAST. Then you have Megatron on the offense. If Stafford stays healthy, watch out.

NFC South: The Falcons and Saints battle this one out. Look for the Saints to try and regain their playoff form, especially after getting embarrassed by Marshawn Lynch's earthquake run. The Falcons picked up Julio Jones, so I expect them to be almost like the 99 Rams. But can their defense hold up? The Bucs will be good, but they have the Falcons and Saints to contend with. The Panthers will be better, but Cam Newton will be an average QB at best. Hopefully this will teach kids to NOT GO TO THAT STUPID spread college offense. IT DOES NOT PREPARE YOU for the NFL if you're a QB. Cam Newton sucks in the passing game. He may smile nice, but he is not a NFL QB.

NFC East: Eagles. It better be the Eagles. With all those pickups, they BETTER win. The Giants will be tough, but something seems missing with them. The Cowboys still have the talent, but can Romo get them over the hump? Probably not. Then again, as long as he throws to Jason Witten, I'm good (fantasy football...). The Redskins will be better. Let's see if Shanahan can make a winner out of John "security didn't even know who I was" Beck or Rex "why am I still in the league" Grossman.

NFC West: My favorite team resides in this division, but this is by far the weakest division. I think the Rams get this one because Bradford is paired with Josh McDaniel. The defense has improved so it will be their division to take. The Cardinals will be decent, but besides Fitzgerald, someone else needs to step up on their offense. The Seahawks go back to the hole from which they came. Starting Tevaris Jackson is the most ridiculous thing a coach can ever do. The man SUCKS. Think about it. In Minnesota last year, Jackson took all the 1st team OTA snaps. ALL of the 1st team training camp snaps and preseason games, and 3 Vikings players STILL went down to Mississippi at the end of training camp to drag up old man Bret Favre from his living room to be their QB. That told me everything I needed to know about Tevaris Jackson. The Niners, my team the Niners are going to be horrible. Why? Alex Smith is still there. The man sucks. I have no other words to describe him, but to say he sucks. Seems like a good guy, but he is not a NFL QB. If Alex Smith is on this forum (hey, you never know...) I hope he reads this. WIN. All you have to do is win games and not screw up. I know you're trying, but face facts. You haven't gotten the job done. Prove me wrong...

Playoff predictions:

In no particular order:

AFC: Jets, Patriots, Steelers, Ravens, Colts, Chargers.
NFC: Eagles, Rams, Falcons, Packers, Saints, Vikings

AFC Title game: Jets vs Chargers
NFC Title game: Falcons vs Packers

Super Bowl: Jets vs Falcons

Winner: Jets. Yep, I'm going for the man with the foot fetish!! lol

I pray to God you're right man.........42 years and counting.....*sigh*

The Browns are better than you think. I can think of six teams - Buffalo, Miami, Tennessee, Cinncinatti, Oakland, Denver - in their conference that they are better than or as good as.

Colt McCoy looks to be everything that they could want in a QB. They finally seem to have stability at QB, now they must build around him.

And have you seen their schedule? It shouldn't be a shock if they went 10-6. They'd better start off good though because four of their final five are against the Ravens and Steelers.

And remember that they beat the Patriots last season. Anything can happen

They are NOT better than the Dolphins.... The only place where the Dolphins aren't clearly better is at QB, and until McCoy proves ANYTHING, that is basically a wash.... Miami's D is top 5 in the AFC, and their offense WILL be better.... BOOK IT SON...

I said better than or as good as. If the Dolphins are the better team it's not by much.
