I'm thinking the same thing after seeing that Wade is staying in and Bosh is headed to Miami. Miami is probably the third option.

I find it funny that some people do not understand history. Skinfan, when Shaq left Orlando, Orlando citizens were upset with him leaving. This Lebron thing will be completely different. First of all, the Lakers offered MORE money to Shaq than Orlando did. Shaq said he was "hurt" the Magic didn't do enough to keep him, so he called them a "dried up little pond".

In Lebron's case, the Cavs can offer him MORE money than any other team. Plus, did you see this outpouring of an entire STATE begging Lebron to stay with Shaq? NOPE. Have you seen this kind of hysterical pleading with any other free agent in any sport? NOPE. Lebron took the Cavs from nobodies to a team people want to watch. Why would he really leave what he has built?

The reason why I say it will be the most evil, cold blooded thing to do is because Lebron is supposedly a likeable guy. He's not "Kobe Bryant" in terms of personality, so people love Lebron. For him to leave when you have the entire State, including the Governor of the State, begging and pleading for you to stay in the team you made prominent, leaving would be heartless.

This situation is different. If the Cavs sucked, then by all means, bail. But, the Cavs were the top seed in the playoffs 2 years in a row. Management has done everything they can, and openly admitted they are doing everything they can to get a title for Lebron. This isn't a case of an organization who doesn't give a fuck, the Cavs are TRYING to win. Until they lost in the 2nd round, MANY people thought the Cavs would be in the Finals against the Lakers. Now all of the sudden, Lebron's team sucked.

Usually, the coach takes the fall. Mike Brown is gone. Why should Lebron leave? He will get more money, the ownership is very much behind him in winning a championship, and he is in his home State. If he leaves, he just told his teammates that helped him win 2 MVPs that they suck. Can you really see "loveable Lebron" doing that? That's why it would be evil if he left. When Art Moddell bailed, he bailed out like a thief in the night. There was no public outpouring begging him to stay like you see with Lebron.

People say the Wade/Bosh move forced Lebron's hand. How? Wade could have teamed up with Bosh in Chicago. Wade is from Chicago. He would be closer to his kids, especially during this domestic issue he has. BUT, he chose to stay in Miami. Think about that. He and Bosh could have been Bulls. Why did he choose Miami? Bosh wanted Miami, and down deep, Wade wanted Miami. He already was part of winning there. Same could be for Lebron. If Lebron wants to win now, the Knicks are not part of that plan. The Cavs are more ready for a title than they are. Mike D'Antoni will not win a title until he learns defense is a major part of winning titles....

interesting, I just heard on the news that Lebron is making his announcement in Greenwich CT which is 20 mins from the Knicks training center...(I just happen to work around the corner from where he is making the announcement, can you say media circus?)

I am reluctant to swell your head up 😛 but Primetime you nailed it. Especially your point on the Knicks. I have never thought that LeBron would come to New York. I still don't believe he will. And the Knicks even with LeBron are still YEARS away from winning anything. The best the Knicks fans could hope for is a .500 season.

lol don't worry ticklingfeet4u, I KNOW you're not trying to swell my head. But yeah, the Knicks are kidding themselves if they think Lebron is the missing piece. They need a lot of help. Stoudemire is a good offensive player, but his defensive skills are horrible. Mike D'Antoni doesn't believe in defense either. The problem is, the Eastern Conference is all about defense. Lebron would be wasting his time if he wants to win now.

Man, if Lebron leaves, then people can no longer say Mr. Bryant is THE ego maniac of the league, that would belong to Lebron should he leave Cleveland. He does not have a valid reason to leave. If he does go, he is only feeding his ego...

In Lebron's case, the Cavs can offer him MORE money than any other team.

More guaranteed money via contract.

There are many rumors and theories that LeBron can make more $$$ in NY or NJ.

The new Nets owner is a BILLIONaire. He could give Bron-Bron all sorts of endorsements and world wide connections.

There is a hot rumor that LeBron (or more precisely, those he works with/has business with) have been buying MSG stock, which will increase not only if and when he signs w/ the Knicks, but as he continues to play for them and make them contender.

And even though all I state is just theory, they are based somewhat in truth in that Lebron can make more money in a larger market.

Cleveland can offer more $$$ in the short term, but Lebron can certainly get more money playing somewhere else... like the Big Apple.

And Miami and Chicago offer him the quickest route to the finals.

Usually, the coach takes the fall. Mike Brown is gone. Why should Lebron leave? He will get more money, the ownership is very much behind him in winning a championship, and he is in his home State. Compared to the rosters of Chicago and the new-look Miami, the Cavs are not as good.

If Lebron leaves in favor of either of those teams, he is simply saying he would rather play with better players more guaranteed to win a title now, not that his Cavs teammates 'suck'.

I would venture a guess that a large majority of superstars or even run-of-the-mill FA's want to play in Miami right about now and I don't blame them.

People say the Wade/Bosh move forced Lebron's hand. How? Wade could have teamed up with Bosh in Chicago. Wade is from Chicago. True that LeBron and Bosh or Wade and LeBron could have both gone to Chi-town, but not all three could have.

So that's the 'forcing the hand' idea.

Lebron has a chance to create the greatest trio of all time in Miami.

Miami can still offer a MAX deal, especially if they work a deal to trade for Bosh instead of sign him outright.

There has been thoughts of Lebron-Bosh-Wade playing together since they won Gold @ the Olympics a few years ago. Their impending Free agency @ the same time gave them such an oppurtunity to 'collude' and decide to sign together in one of two places:

New York (who had the cap space before signing Amare)
Miami

I don't see how one could blame Lebron for ditching Cleveland to play with a future HoFamer who has already won a title and a PF who may also one day be a HoFamer. Together that trio may (has no reason not to) win the next five titles.

I'm not saying Lebron isn't a punk if he leaves Cleveland, because he still is, but the fact remains he has every reason to leave now.

Man, if Lebron leaves, then people can no longer say Mr. Bryant is THE ego maniac of the league, that would belong to Lebron should he leave Cleveland. He does not have a valid reason to leave. If he does go, he is only feeding his ego...

Except to make alot more money in NY and become a bigger legend there or to go to Miami to play along side two of the best players in the league and create one of the best trios in NBA history while making a run at the next 5-10 titles.

But that aside, I do agree that he is an ego maniac and I think he cares more about his image than winning.

seems like lebron is joining the heat he took a midnight flight out to miami to have a meeting with the owner tonight

looks like the new big 3 is LeBron, Wade and Bosh with the Heat, I hope that isn't right tho

I just don`t see how Big Three could work long-term . Bosh would be 3rd option on offense and he is used to being no.1 option. Can`t see LeBron or Wades egos letting either one become 2nd option on offense .

These guys could put everything aside to win a gold medal in Beijing, but they couldn't coexist long term? I don't think so, I do think that Bosh realizes where he stands and will be sure to coexist with the two greats, if this is even TRUE.

With that

So that goes for every single free agent ever. No free agent ever has a reason to leave except more money, and he's going to put aside some money short term to go and sign with a team like Miami (Again assuming here) to share the load with two other superstars. He would be egomaniacal to go to NYC or NJ because he would be the primary player here. So going and sharing the load, and deciding that Miami is the best place to WIN CHAMPIONSHIPS, which I might add IS THE SOLE REASON YOU ARE IN THE PROS, we're gonna demonize him for that.

Now I DO feel bad for Cleveland, thats a city thats been through so much I can't even imagine. However, this is the reality of sports. I remember when Ted Leonsis had to dismantle the Washington Capitals right before the strike...many of my favorite players were gone, Gonchar, Bondra and others....they no longer were on the team and I was upset. But this is the reality...if Cleveland had reached the finals this year, LeBron would have probably stayed...but the fact that they took a step back on this just says to me, that HE WANTS TO WIN!! And he doesn't think he can do that by himself...we're taught when we play sports that its all about teamwork and not being the big man on the team but to sacrifice...thats what he's doing, he's gonna sacrifice some of his spotlight, to Wade and Bosh and WE'RE the ones calling him egomaniacal? I just don't get it, call me an apologist if you want, but maybe he thinks that this will help get him championships...and if thats his reasoning...I got no problem with the guy leaving, yes I feel bad for Cleveland, but you know something....this is the reality of sports.

Cleveland could go from being one of the most-watched teams to being completely off the radar.

I think you are missing my point. In the case of each one of the guys.... they have always been the top dog of their teams going back to; at the very least highschool.

Wade considers Miami his territory. that may not be true if LeBron is there after a while

Here is where it could get real interesting...

If Bosh is part of sign and trade and gets the max contract from Raptors , he will make significantly more than Wade and James but still be the 3rd best player on the team

Look at Lakers when they had Shaq in his prime and Kobe jumping to elite status. One guy was shown the door. Egos were too big to work together for more championships....will be interesting to watch after a year or two especially if they havent won a championship. The scrutiny and pressure would be off the charts!!

Well its official...LeBron to the Heat.

As I said...I feel terrible for the people in Cleveland...but this is the reality of Professional Sports. One thing's for sure...I'm excited to see the Heat come to DC now and glad they are in our division.

I just saw the announcement on TV. James is going to the Heat.

I hate to say, with this announcement, the Heat have to be considered one of the favorites to win it all in 2010-2011, along with, of course, the Lakers again, and the Celts, and Magic.

I despise Pat Riley worse than anyone in basketball. The man is an arrogant prick, but, with this move, he improved his ballclub significantly.

The question now is whether James and Wade can share the ball. Both are number one guys.

Interesting move. We'll see how it works out.

Mitch

I chose not to say anything until the news came in.....he is leaving Cleveland and going to Miami.

Congratulations, good luck, happy landings, and anything else that goes along with it. I'm just glad it's over with; he's been holding the city hostage for years. It just goes to show his true character-something my daughter told me about years ago when he was a high school player. They started with the "King James" nonsense basically mocking the bible and it went downhill from there. He can lean on Dwayne Wade for the backbone and the killer instinct to actually win a championship because he doesn't own one of his own.

Now in a few days I'll have my news back and this will eventually blow over. We survived Carlos Boozer, Jim Thome, Manny Ramirez, Art Modell, and others and we will survive this as well. I just think it's kinda' of shitty timing with all the problems Cleveland's gone through over the last couple of years. But we'll be getting our casinos soon and we'll rebuild.....we always do.

Most of the begging and ass kissing came outside of Cleveland anyway; they're the only ones who can afford to go to the Q!

kis, as we know, athletes have no loyalty nowadays, and they all go where the money is.

I dont know how closely you follow baseball, but look at the Atlanta Braves. First, in 2002, Tom Glavine leaves the Braves after being with them for 16 years, and winning 11 straight division titles at that point, to go to last place with the New York Mets, for what amounted to one year more on his contract. Then, the next year, Greg Maddux, another future Hall of Famer, left. A few years later, John Smoltz, yet another guy who is going to be in the baseball Hall of Fame, goes. The only Hall of Famer still with the Braves is Chipper Jones. The rest all either sold out for more money, a bigger city, etc.

The Cavs may not be as good without Lebron in the short term, but maybe in the long term it will work out better. Who knows, maybe they will really be bad next year, and get a draft pick whose better than James. The Braves survived without Hall of Famers, and, after a few subpar years, have, knock on wood, rebounded to become a pretty good team again.. Hopefully the Cavs can do the same.

Mitch

LeBron made the decision that will help him win a championship, the goal of every athlete who loves the sport in which they play. Miami and Chicago were the clear choices to help him win. If Cleveland had better talent LeBron would be staying there.

Cleveland didn't offer KJ anything that any other team didn't have. LeBron did everything for the Cleveland organization, an organization that didn't mean anything before he arrived and is sadly headed back in that direction.

The question now is whether James and Wade can share the ball. Both are number one guys.

Mitch

I think they can share, if they have to, but the bigger question in my mind is:

Who will get the ball in the clutch/down by one score w/ only seconds left.

If you ask me, Wade has proven to be able to lead/carry a team and/or take command like MJ and Kobe, etc.

Other than the 07 ECF, Lebron just hasn't done so.

It looks like Wade's team in Miami and therefore it also looks like LeBron will have to be the-Pippen-sidekick to Wade.

Or else... ego's may clash.

Well looks like Lebron completely sold out.

What did you expect him to do, stay in Cleveland and continue to NOT win championships while his peers do?

He may be an egomaniac, but he's a competitor as well. Hence his 'selling out' to Miami.

Besides, selling out for Championships makes more sense than selling out for $$$ (which would have been the case if he had gone to NY/NJ).

True. Although now if he wins, tons of people will say its only because he had D-Wade and Bosh.
