Well in this discussion I'm asking rather the NFL or NBA should expand, if yes where would you like to see a franchise? (If its a city that does not have specific franchise)

I'd like to see both organizations put teams in Vegas. I'd also like to see the NFL put a team in LA and Canada.

The NBA could put teams in Cincinatti, Pittsburgh, and St Louis. All are huge sports cities. Also, except for the Cleveland Cavs, there aren't many teams within those areas, so they might have a large following.

The NFL should put at least one team in Canada. Toronto would be a likely good spot, although I do know they have the CFL already.

There is a rumor that the NBA is considering expanding into Vegas, but in light of the Tim Donaghy scandal that might not happen.

In the short list of NFL expansion LA is a top priority for the NFL. Canada is a diffrent story

Canadian teams in the NFL would be cool actually... we do already have the CFL, but it would be cool if the NFL could add at least one or two Canadian teams.

L.A. had their shot at a team and lost it. The only way I would support moving a team to L.A. is if the Raider's moved back there. There is no way I could support a state having 4 football teams. I personally think its crazy Florida has 3.

There will be expansion, but not for at least 5 more years I think.
One big place I know the NFL wants...believe it or not....
Mexico City.
Why?

Azteca Stadium. Seats over 100,000 people. And people (especially Jerry Jones) wants that revenue flowing into the NFL. Is there a market well if these numbers are any indication...there is.

The first regular season NFL game played outside the United States was held on October 2, 2005 at Azteca Stadium in Mexico City before an NFL regular-season record of 103,467 fans.

The largest crowd in NFL history was recorded at the American Bowl game at Mexico City August 15, 1994, when 112,376 people attended the game between the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Oilers...this was a pre-season game.

Also worth noting is that starting in 2008 (this year) the Buffalo Bills will be playing 1 pre-season and 1 regular season game in Toronto.
August 14th against the Pittsburgh Steelers (Pre-season)
December 7th against the Miami Dolphins (regular season)

To me it looks like the soon to be out of US expansion cities have been chosen. These are perfect test runs for the league.

NBA...I think there are enough teams, although I would not be opposed to see a team in Vegas.

I seem to remember that there has been some debate about actually moving the Bills to Toronto. Or am I wrong?

There was some discussion, and yes some is still ongoing.

I don't follow the NBA quite enough to give an opinion, although I hate seeing it on tv every damn night, so apparently they have enough teams. :jester:

Football is my sport. I am dumbfounded at how the league can be so damn adamant about putting a team in LA. It hasn't worked twice, why must we put fans through it yet again? Even my friends that live in LA say "we love football and watching it, but we don't want any more traffic involved with a stadium". I think it would be cool to give Canada an expansion team. It's a viable sports market and they got great fans. I don't know how much I want teams around the globe strictly for the reason of jet lag flying back and forth around the world. I think Mexico is a viable option as there is a market for it. How much players want to live there.... I not sure.

I will say, as a season ticket holder, I don't like regular season games being played outside the US. The main reason is that if it is deemed your team's home game, the price doesn't change. I payed full price for 8 home games this year and 2 pre-season games even though my team is the "home" team for the game in London. I think Wembley Stadium is a great venue with outstanding fans, but the NFL is treating it like a home game. I'm constantly getting shit from the front office saying "here is your option to buy tickets to the game". I fucking paid for tickets to it in my season ticket package and you want me to pay on top of that. Not to mention you have to buy flights to and from London. Thats more than my 2 prime seat season tickets cost.

I'd be more than willing to give up both preseason home games if they chose to play all over the world as most people don't make a huge effort to go to them.

So I wouldn't mind new expansion teams. Toronto and Vegas definitely sound like good places.

I couldn't agree more. I know the NFL is trying to expand its market and become more global, but I hate that its all about $$$$$!! It screws over season ticket holders as Krazie mentioned, and it screws over the teams that lose a home game. I couldn't care less about what Jerry Jones wants. Like he doesn't have enough money already. In the one league that isn't completely tainted by steroids or fixed games, can we at least keep it pure for the fans??
Not to mention the fact that the U.S. economy is struggling, so I would hope expansion would stay in the U.S. and not Canada or Mexico. Pump that money back into OUR economy, not foreign economies for the good of the owners. Vegas would be fine with me, although I wouldn't suggest letting Pac-Man Jones play for a Vegas team.

Kansas City needs the NBA!

Kansas City recently opened the state-of-the-art Sprint Center in downtown.

It's already a great concert venue, but I know the NBA could benefit from the rich basketball tradition all over the area, and it already hosted the Big 12 Tournament this past season. The arena is a huge improvement over Kemper.

NFL expand

Word on the rumor mill is that the NFL is expanding into two cities:

1. Los Angeles

2. San Antonio

they it might happen in the next decade or so
