I wouldn't really worried about trying so hard to make it hot for him hun. I met tons of Doms off of fetlife and introduce to tickling and turns out that they all enjoy it and get turn on by it. In my experience, it's much easier to get someone interested in being the 'ler than interesting them in being the 'lee, simply because the former does not involve "being under the feather". As far as it being erotic for him, the act itself may not make him aroused, but I imagine your outfit/look and your reaction would do the trick.
