In May 2007 I broke my right foot and two toes while riding my motorcycle; (to be honest, the bike fail on my foot. LOL) The orthopedic surgeon my primary doctor sent me to gave me a boot and told me to take it easy. I notice that my big toe was pointing inward, which I mention to the surgeon; he said it would be ok and did not think twice about it. (He never reset my toe)
7 months later, my toe seems to be bent more inward than before causing the second toe to rest on top of the big toe, also I notice more back pain, foot pain and my left foot has starting to develop Plantar Fasciitis (falling arch) maybe because my body alignment is off kilter
I finally went to my podiatrist, he did x-rays and foot pressure scans; the scan confirms my feet alignment is off, he give me a printout comparing my feet scan with a image of normal feet.
The scan shows my left foot is not applying to correct amount of pressure and my right foot was only applying pressure in the middle of the big toe and the outside of the right foot.
After looking at the x-ray, he said I have arthritis in the third joint of the big toe; also in order for him to straighten my toe, he would have to cut the toe at the second joint and fuse the two pieces together.
After the surgery I suppose to be laid up for 4 weeks; which I can’t afford to be, so the doctor told me to stay off my feet for a week and then I will be place on limited duty. I would also need to find a chauffer to get me two and from work for the remainder of my 4 weeks. And for my Plantar Fasciitis, I need to wear special arch support for the rest of my natural life.
This is the ending of a glorious year and the beginning of another year in paradise.
