Yes. You read that correctly. After over 3 months of announcements and preparations, we're now finished accepting new applications for review.

WE WILL ACCEPT NO NEW APPLICATIONS FOR THIS YEAR'S GATHERING.

If you are a NEST veteran who we already know and don't need to screen, you will have a few extra days to finalize things. As of Friday, May 18th, we're done. So, if you've been sitting on that fence and want to come, it's now or never...or at least now or next year.

Not that I was dragging my feet on requesting to attend NEST. Rather, I know I won't be able to attend. But seeing this post rubs it in a little, as I fantasize about a sudden opportunity to attend - namely, my family minus me going out of town that weekend, leaving me free to join you! But with this announcement, there goes that little daydream.

EmEs - Perhaps next year? BTW, as for the fantasy...they aren't so based in reality that you can't continue. Just add in us wanting you there so much that we make an exception and you can still dream. Or, you enter a time warp and it's already next year and you're free and clear. Or... Well, you get the picture. One day!

Well, now that he/it fessed up...!

As for hijacking the thread, I have no problem with that in this case. It keeps the thread active so those who didn't see it yet will spot it and know. We hate to ever cut off the signups. But, the realities of all the preparation a gathering like this takes makes it necessary. And, after all, it's not like we didn't post numerous warnings about deadlines from day one. After nearly 5 months of hard work, there's still much to wrap up before we take a few days off to relax and rest up a bit before the next round of craziness. But, it's soooo worth it!

True, but if you read Ann's original reply, she said that there are 71 "guys" and 34 "gals." The word "guy" generally refers to a male human, and the word "gal" generally refers to a female human. She just neglected to mention that there is also one bull rhinoceros on the guest list.

Admittedly, she did also say that there were 106 people on the list, but I'm sure she just included me as a person so as not to hurt my feelings. Us rhinos can be rather touchy about such things. 😛
