New Ghostbusters trailer and movie recieving backlash

Seems the new ghostbusters movie intented on "girl power" with all female cast and production is receiving major backlash from women....

I just think its interesting that the people they were trying to please are not pleased..hmmmm:doh:

The director's response is that its hated because of a all female cast. I think that is b/s but whatever.:boo2:

I'll go see it but I fail to see the women power idea though...its almost like they don't think women can't do anything. So they got to keep pushing it. Like when a teenager is telling everyone how grown up they are instead of just acting like it and let others judge by your actions.

I guess I just don't see the big deal about it. I mean, wow, they made a movie with all female cast. Big deal. Why celebrate it like its some big accomplishment. I mean the movie "a league of their own" was a great movie to watch...directed by Penny Marshall. I didn't see her running to a podium like this is a woman accomplishment. I just thought.... Its interesting (and I'll admit it...a bit funny) is that they want women get on board with this female power and (to women's credit) they are not buying it.

Unfortunately, in my opinion, its women like this that are bringing women down. Its like a leg amputee running a race and winning. That's an accomplishment. Are these women saying that women are handicapped and incapable of doing anything therefore we should celebrate every time they do something men have done for years now. It just seems like a back handed compliment to me. I agree, I think feminists and social justice warriors.(SJWs) are a joke. but you can't deny that they are the next evolution of change if it isn't at least acknowledged. Ignoring it won't make it go away...as a matter of fact it will make it worse because most are attention *****s. This is the age of computers after all.

Well maybe I'm confused. Take women seriously....don't take them seriously. Make up your mind. If I laugh it off then I am an ass as a man or if I don't then I am part of the problem ...again as a man. I am sure most of us don't live on the TMF and do step outside our house. There are things on the outside that can or might effect our society with change and sometimes I just would like an opinion on the subject from different points of view on the forum. Deny it all you want but its happening.

As for the male/female thing. I am not much into politics but I could mention Trump?..lol. Its just one of the things that going on now in this day and age and I merely focused on it to get opinions...nothing more. No one is required to answer or have an opinion but some of us don't have that "hope it goes away or maybe someone else will fix it" attitude so I just ask an opinion.

Mostly youtube. But there is a movement going on from feminists trying to destroy men. they have even gotten the U.N. involved not to mention college campuses with rape culture (accusing all men of being rapists) Its just all part of it in my opinion. Just type....what feminist are up too and you'll get the whole story. As you said, I could ignore it, but when has ignoring attention-wanting women worked..lol

Well being born a man....my guess is yes.

Actually, they are destroying women in my opinion

Maybe its hard to express words on a computer but i am not mad. I just acknowledge that this is stupid. the idea that its a all female cast and production... I mean really? unbelievable..I guess I can't get my head wrapped around why most women now a days seem to believe that they are incapable of doing things without expecting everyone to give them cake for a job well done. As I said before, maybe I am wrong, and I should praise them every time they accomplish something men have done for years. just seem condescending to me. Even Judge Judy said that she became a good judge because of who she is not what she was..but I guess that makes her afraid of her womanhood.

exactly my point. there was no need for it other then to toot their own horn. Has nothing to do with original movie. Three of the guys were friends from SNL..Harold Raimis and Dan Aykroyd were the screenwriters so they decided to act in it as well. it wasn't like they were like we are all men...chest pounding.

That's impossible. These women are weak minded and can't do anything. IF they do...it should be celebrated. Yay....they made a movie. Here's some cake.:headpat:

shhhh, women don't respect men that kiss their asses. that's good advice. No need to be the white knight.

th
I told you I'm proud of these women. They did something that no women have done in years. They made a movie all by themselves. They should be proud. lol
Actually the only thing that bothers me is that is was made an issue....but not by me. At first I was taking it seriously because I thought women had more to offer but i see now that we all should see them as nothing to fear (as you say) or taken seriously. Then guys wonder why women on here think guys are a joke. Man-power!!!:woman::sarc1:

Well sometimes I do stand and look outside the box.

^ See for yourself. IMO, there is nothing "outside-the-box" about your "stand". The soul of it is not even about ghostbusters at all. It's vampirism. 😉

well if a person needs to be lifted up it really means they look down on themselves and anyone that abides by it also looks down on them. Some men pay women to be nice to them or some have moderator status that can kick off attitudes---so they don't count. I just think its funny that seeing women as capable has caused some to argue with me about it and have (through their own arguments) shown that they believe women are incapable of doing anything. Not to be respected or feared (which again I think is funny) in their own words but fear has nothing to do with it on my part. Unless of course you're in denial..to me, that's fear.

As for vampirism, not sure what that means. My comment of thinking outside the box means that I don't box myself in this world to feel safe by denying things outside the box I have created to pretend that it doesn't exist.

It's odd (or perhaps it isn't) that you see any kind of expression of pride as an indication of weakness. For example: I, like a number of people, am proud of my Irish heritage, and I own several items of clothing that say so. Does that mean I think the Irish need to be lifted up? Far from it, I'm aware that most people only wish they could be Irish. They certainly try to act like it 🙂 . Like me, my late uncle was a veteran, and had a tattoo proclaiming his pride in his service. He was a marine in Vietnam (Force Recon, actually), do you really think he was responding to feeling incapable of anything?

Your argument that women think they need to be lifted up because they're showing pride is bullshit. They're showing pride because like a lot of groups, women have had to go through a lot to even get half of what we men had handed to us at birth, and they still have to fight. Usually, it's against people like you. After all, you can't even let a female-driven movie about ghostbusting go by without expressing your outrage. I can't imagine what it would be like, being a woman that has to deal with you in person. Jaysus, Mary and Joseph...the whining would be deafening.

Wow. Just wow. Count me and everybody I know in the minority, then.

Personally, I think it's just as unreasonable to be proud of one's ethnicity as it is to be derisive of somebody else's. Seriously, who takes credit for their own DNA makeup? If I'm going to feel pride, it's not going to be over something of which I had no control or participation. It's going to be of my accomplishments. It's going to be when I held steadfast to a principle in spite of overwhelming opposition only to be proven right in the end. It's going to be of achieving the goals I've set for myself. And even then, it's not something I'm going boast of, and I certainly wouldn't presume the envy of others. :illogical

Was your uncle proud that he was a veteran and soldier or because he was a man that was a veteran and soldier? These women aren't proud of what they did because it was hard work..it was because they were women doing the hard work. As for living with me, I guess it would be hard to deal with me because I would expect you to be proud of your accomplishments because you over came your adversity not because you are a woman that became over adversity. I don't see women as victims or children. i see them as capable human beings full of thought and ideas. These women see themselves as children and victims. If they didn't they wouldn't be pulling up the "vagina" poster.

As for women going through a lot because they wanted the same perks as men except when it came to complaining about not being put in the front lines, giving up child support and alimony, women wanted the right to vote but back then you were required to sign up for military service to vote (women didn't get drafted). jail sentence are lighter for women for the same crime as men, 60% of women are in college and running the workforce because of affirmative action (not because they earned it). Just to name a few.

Men are expected to do the more dangerous death defying jobs or dirty jobs to keep this world running. Don't see a lot of women signing up for these jobs. When in an accident its men that have to be the ones left behind (women and children first). So please tell me again how men are born with privileges. Lets face it their are women out their that want what men have (or born with, as you say) but don't want to be recognized for their accomplishments because they accomplished it. No its because they are female. If that isn't a back handed slap to themselves. I don't know what is. You want to keep seeing women as incapable victims go ahead..i won't stop you.

One word: Uterus.
Nothing more. 🙂

This partly gives her a freepass (or NOT). This is the great exodus that makes her different from you. YOU have to be in the front line while she gives birth to your kid (but you have none). So all you do is complain because you don't have a grasp of it at all.

And take note that this is a Ghostbuster thread. 😀

To be fair, the rest of us were asking him why he had such a hissy fit over the "Girl Power" picture. Now, we're just letting him rant. It's kind of funny, because, unlike a troll, it's clear that he really believes his "facts".

I know. I just thought is was interesting and a bit funny that women were downplaying the "female power" not men. I didn't even mentions guys in the original post, but as a guy I got attacked about it...surprise, surprise.

It is kinda funny. The hissy fit as you call it ....Is me seeing women as adults.

Some of the things I did mention are facts when it comes to men and women (do some research if you would before you think it my opinion and put it in quotes)....except for the fact that women are capable i guess; I see now we should celebrate when they do something extraordinary like making a movie all by themselves.

Wow, can't believe I was arguing about women's capabilities and being accused of hating and fearing them. I just thought is was dumb for them to act like they discovered uranium. My bad. Apparently women need to be treated like a child.

Exactly..you don't get to get pregnant if you wish to be on the frontlines. You get to get limbs blown off with the rest of us,Men. equality

I don't care about what you do, how you operate and about your concept of equality!

You can let your wife be blown to pieces with mines for all I care.... LOL! 😀

Do women not serve in the military where you're from? 'Cause they do here, and have for a long time. And voting rights aren't tied to the draft, unless you're using some weird corkscrew logic about it being a felony not to register for Selective Service (which could strip you of your voting rights if you were convicted...but how often are people convicted of that?).
As for women and children first, you know Titanic was a movie, right? Leo didn't really drown. But it's hilarious that you have kibbles n bits in a bunch about it.

Well I wouldn't if I had one but it wouldn't because she is a woman...its because she is my wife.

I'm just saying if a woman wants to be considered equal...quit thinking they need a merit every time they do something ordinary. And don't say childbirth...something men can't do by design..otherwise I'll say...pee standing up without it running down your leg...:eeew:

Women serve but in the front lines. If they do then they have changed it in the last year.

No, not the draft, but it was tied to service at one time. So you literary signed up to be drafted. And for felony and military..i think you missed the commas. it means "and/or" It didn't say it was together. And women do get lighter sentences for murder. I think Aileen Werner (a female) was the first woman to be on death row since it started.

The titanic might be a movie but in a real situation, see who they rescue first. You don't see too many signing up for laying concrete....just CEO positions. Not too many would say..please sir...save all the men. We women will stay here. I am just saying..you don't see too many women arguing with those inequalities. So when someone tells me men are privileged over women....I say we both have equal ups and downs with our genders and its b/s.

The women in Ghostbusters are successful professionals just doing their jobs. I don't think any normal people are really talking about Ghostbusters as an exemplar of women power except within a couple of contexts:

1. When the casting of Ghostbusters was announced, a bunch of dudes on the internet complained loudly, indicating that women shouldn't be allowed to play Ghostbusters. This is ridiculous, of course, and so I guess to the degree that the movie exists as a refutation of that position, it's an example of women power. And

2. For decades (or longer), some men have argued sincerely that women aren't funny, and some male movie executives have proceeded on the assumption that a comedy film featuring women can't be successful. Movies like Bridesmaids, The Heat, and Spy have proven otherwise, of course, and so I guess to the extent that Ghostbusters continues in that vein, it could be perceived as an example of women power.

Mostly, though, it's just another big-budget comedy movie starring professional comedy performers who, in this case, happen to be women. Parts of it might be less-than-funny and parts of it might be racially insensitive; the same things can be said of the first Ghostbusters. It also might be a terrible movie. Because women get to make terrible movies, just like men do.

1: In the past 100 years, over 40 women have been executed in the U.S, including 15 since 1976. http://www.deathpenaltyinfo.org/women-and-death-penalty
2: Her name was Aileen Wuornos.

You really are just pulling facts out of your ass, aren't you?

None of the above, not even Ghostbuster itself, but only this >>> "...a bit funny that women were downplaying the "female power" not men."

Got it. This is all pointless. Again, the man is in active war with himself.

I'm done here. 🙂

What peeing on herself? an odd request

Did you know that there is a movie coming out that women did all by themselves. I was like whoa! No way. They had a female producer. I was like really? That's never been done before. Yeah, and female stunt woman too. They must of look to the ends of the earth to find her. That's unheard of...there are only men dressed up like women for stunts...there are no female stunt women. Yeah, a woman also did the set designs....I was like now you're telling me something beyond belief. They even had a female casting it....we are definitely in fairy town land now.

You're far from done. It’s trolly entertaining that no woman can beat you with the way you NAG in this entire thread of yours. 😉

No one said the movie was a statement or benchmark for some kind of movement for equality or progress. Its been talked about that because the cast is all female (as opposed to male), its a female power type movie. I can see why people may think that, but no one said it was some big victory for equality and I'm not sure why that's the argument you are going with...

Like, its a movie and you're talking about females losing limbs in a war. Don't you think maybe you took this to a ridiculous level? You seem to be the only one seeing it as seriously as you are.

Well that's an accomplishment worthy being proud of. You say its only a movie..maybe you should be telling them that. I am not the one who took it to a ridiculous level. I just called it out. But it is funny though...so proud are they of their accomplishment. Sad, sad, sad... the original post was just about some women that didn't buy into the b/s..but it quickly became men against women. Why, I guess because when a man isn't impressed by something has been done for centuries...its considered oppression. Why, because a woman did it. If it sucks as a movie...it sucks. Don't pull the ....'its because a woman did it' crap.
