New Ghostbusters trailer and movie recieving backlash

This is about dating, isn't it? I mean, it's not like homeless women are respected, right? And where does cowardly enter the mix?

Your question was where is it that men aren't respected. No, homeless women aren't respected either...what's your point. I've stated that we all have our equal oppression. But some women (and men) want to believe we don't.

I someone specifically blaming you for their lack of advancement?

Every time men are blamed for oppressing women. I am a one man but I am not "men." Forgive me that I don't like to be thrown into that collective of oppressing womanhood.

Because you threw in all the common terms that certain types of men claim are discriminated against, regarding dating: Geeky, Ugly, Short, Nerd, etc... (cowardly?!?). I was noting the pattern, and asking what the hell "cowardly" had to do with it.

So, you admit that it's men (the ones in power) that contribute to the opression, but take offense that people don't say "It's men (except for Ticklerguy4u, he's okay!)" that contribute to the oppression....
See, I know I'm not one of the ones in charge, so I don't take offense when someone doesn't bend over backwards to spare my feelings.

Really...you don't know where cowardly comes into the mix...see how much respect a guy gets if he shows any kind of fear.

What are you talking about? What kind of common situations are you referring to where you couldn't show fear?

I don't think (nor did i say) all men are the same of course just like not all women or even all feminists are the same. Some norms and practices do need to change where there is gender bias, that's what I meant.

Why do you make blanket statements and absolutes about either gender when you dislike it yourself?

It isn't about feelings (well maybe their's) its about fact. i get what you re saying. Just because I express my opinion and yes, defend myself against what women say...I am a bad man. You talk about respect...I am not even allowed to express my opinion without being respected.

But you've admitted that your feelings are based on a valid complaint that women are making; you're just offended that they don't bother to note that you, Ticklerguy4u, are not personally responsible for their oppression. You don't think that's a teeny bit oversensitive?

Its the way in which its expressed, I think, that tempers the amount of respect you receive and colors the tone of the responses. Especially on a topic that people are passionate about.

Just using it as an example but it is more common then some would like to admit. I don't think women have it easy but I don't think its one sided either.

But then one could argue that men oppressing women is more common than maybe you'd like to admit.

I'm just playing devils advocate because your stances don't seem to be consistent when it comes to men and women. I could be misunderstanding, but that's how it reads.

I disagree with women being sole victims. They are capable and shouldn't act like they are special for doing ordinary things. I also don't believe all men are responsible for women oppression, but for some reason that made people upset. To me...its like saying...you need to see women as incapable and inferior...otherwise you're afraid, woman-hating, a loser........talk about over-sensitive.

Yeah, but that has do with more men being in higher positions...not men as a gender.

Well unfortunately typed responses is hard to convey emotion even if there isn't any anger. There may be passion and disagree but not hatred. As I have never called anyone a name ...as far as I know.

No one said women were sole victims. No one said you needed to see them as incapable and inferior. No one said that at all. Ever.

They are capable but if a majority of non women hold the majority of power for a long time, that can have an affect that makes it difficult for even capable women to be successful. I think one can understand that without thinking that women are inferior. I don't know what that has to do with being a loser and maybe woman hating is a bit hyperbolic, but misguided maybe?

Of course not all men are sexist but understanding that there are injustices in the world doesn't mean you have to think of the sufferer as inferior nor does it mean the sufferer needs to see all people as predators or something to be able to acknowledge the issue.

You know what's odd? A similar thing happened with the new Starwars movie.
The main character being a female, and the secondary character was a black guy.
I heard there was a whole thing on Facebook about people petitioning the movie, with #WhiteGenocide about how the movie was pushing a "pro-diversity" and "feminist" agenda.
After seeing Starwars, I can see how it seemed like that was what they were going for.
( I don't have a Facebook, but I've read articles online about this. )
But, many movies are starting to do that now. Think about Frozen, and the feminist message there.

We all know that if the new Ghostbusters had an all-white, mostly male cast , the movie would have been called "racist" for not having other ethnicities in it. The whole movie industry just can't win these days!

~~~ This Sounds like what's happening in Ghost Busters now....
I haven't even seen the trailer yet, and it already sounds like its "trying too hard" to push girl-power.
But even if the movie had an all-male cast, I wouldn't feel "offended" in any way.
Just because no ones says it doesn't mean they don't believe it.
So....you're psychic?
Seriously, you just admitted that you completely made up the entire argument you claim to be fighting against. Strawman arguments are common around here, but it's uncommon to have someone admit it.
Well on a collective level ----Homeless men aren't respected. Abused men aren't respected. Nice guys aren't respected. Regular guys aren't respected. Ugly guys aren't respected. Geek men aren't respected. Nerd men aren't respected. Cowardly men aren't respected. Scrawny guys aren't respected. Short guys aren't respected. just to name a few.
Aaaah... so you mean they can't be respected if they have contributed something big to the society, even if they are homeless or short?
Are you respected at home and at work? You may decline if you don't want to answer.
Or Geeks, or Nerds, or Scrawny, or Short, apparently.... which may be news to Bill Gates, Neil DeGrasse Tyson, David Bowie, Prince, Tom Cruise, etc, etc, etc....
well I was commenting on what I was called (woman hating loser...lol)
This is true. I am not going to deny that their are some men that oppose a woman's opportunity to advance in any way but I think has to do with power more then gender. I do believe there are injustices for both men and women. I believe that the injustices of women are more obvious whereas the injustices of men are more subtle. Those with power will always do whatever they can to hold onto it even to the point of convincing others of their inferiority.
Well it has been an unwritten rule. If a man can not provide he is not worth much. As for short...well that is just a stigma ive heard short guys say. I am 6 feet so i don't have that problem but i know guys that always get turned down because of height. Home ...yes, but there have been times at different jobs that I didn't get the respect I thought I deserved for hard work..so no, my gender, didn't give me opportunities in those areas. Sometimes its just the people in charge that hold us back..not a gender.
are you talking about entertainers and inventors. they are celebrities. they don't count because people tend to over-look certain attributes when it comes to popularity and wealth.
