Gotcha. Well, I'd be impressed if we could find very many celebrities who DON'T think they're amazing and AREN'T self-righteous. But as I mentioned, Moore and Bono are different from a lot of those celebrities insofar as they ARE influential in palpable ways. Whether they're influential in a positive or negative way is certainly up for debate, but Moore has certainly had more influence on national political conversation, and Bono on international policy discussions, than any of the celebrities I mentioned, or Rosie O'Donnell or Tom Selleck or the Dixie Chicks or Charlie Daniels or Eddie Vedder or {insert name here}.
Or, for that matter, Maureen Dowd or Anne Coulter.
I'll agree, meanwhile, that Moore is a much much much much much much much less talented speaker and writer than he is a filmmaker. (I certainly didn't suggest that he doesn't mouth off about politics... that would be crazy talk!) However good or bad you think Moore is at filmmaking, at speaking and writing he's certainly worse.
