i need a new topic to write about. anybody anxious for the NFL? i know i am, even though my team, the San Francisco 49ers, will probably suck again. here's my rant on them.....

the 49er management is filled with morons. people who seem to not give a damn about winning. i miss Eddie Debartolo. man, when he was in charge, the 49ers were the class organization. SuperBowls were aplently and fans were having a grand ol' time. then Eddie did some "bad" things and had to surrender the franchise to his crazy sister. ever since then, the once proud franchise has been laughed at. they get rid of Mariucci, who i thought was a great coach and then because of salary cap hell, they dumped a lot of people, including that big baby Terrell Owens. so, we went 2-14 in 2004 and who did we decide to draft first? a playmaker? a guy who can excite the crowd? NOOOOOOOOO!!! we draft Alex Smith. yeah, the 49ers dont have a good QB now, but we need a RB (Barlow is a joke) and we NEED RECEIVERS!!!! Smith is NOT going to make an immediate impact. i wish they drafted WR Braylon Edwards or WR Mike Williams. those are guys who can at least excite the fans as we lose.....

i do say they needed to re-sign Jerry Rice. why? what could it possibly hurt? they have NO receivers now! what difference could it have made? if Jerry sucked, then he would have like the other receivers they have. let Jerry retire as a 49er and not do it the "b*tch" way like Emmitt Smith.

i think New England is going to do well, but not win it all this year. somebofy will figure out that team. if Tony Dungy can get a defense in Indy, then the Colts should be in the Superbowl. they have Manning (my fantasy football star!!) and a tremendous offense. but who knows.....

in the NFC, i dont know who's going to win. i think Atlanta has the best chance as they were a "year away" last year. i think Vick and company are going to have a huge year. Philly? nope, they're done. they will make playoffs, but their "run" is over, even if "Bigmouth" Terrell Owens signs with them again. by the way, what's up with that? T.O., shut your trap and play ball. my goodness....

anyone else have any thoughts?

Mike Vick and Payton Manning will never win a superbowl. If your wondering why I say that ask and I'll let you know.

Hey Primetime, I don't know what you're whining about. At least the 49ers have won a few Superbowls. Try being a Lions fan, we never have gotten close.

I'm glad to see that they're still you're team, even though they won like 3 games last year. It was so depressing. But, I will always root for the 49ers. I'm just glad my A's are doing so well woo whoo (Sunday was the biggest shut out by the A's in A's history, and the biggest defeat in Giants history. 16-0 Az...)

i do agree with you about Jerry. I think they should sign him. Even if he's just a bench warmer. But I don't even know why he's still in it. I mean, he's my fave player still playing, my second fave player over all. I hated when he got traded to the Raiders, They're my least fave team. (Love Oak A's...hate the SF Giants, Love the SF 49ers, hate the Oak Raiders, get it? -- yeah, I think I'm weird) But then it really made me mad because they used him the first season, and yeah he got them to the superbowl..but the next season, they like what? threw to him like 3 times and then traded him to the Seahawks?

Well..all I can say, is I miss Steve M. as coach of the 49ers. I mean, they didn't go to the superbowl, but atleast he started getting them back into the play offs. That's better than they did last season, way better.

Well, I think that's all I'm gonna say...

Oh yeah, why don't you think Vick and Payton will be in a superbowl, knogz?

I am a Lions fan because I must. I worked in a sports bar for a looong time that was a Packers bar! Try being a Lions fan there! I caught so much shit. But I refuse to be a fair weather fan....so, I appreciate them and I also love the Panthers. I guess I just love the kitty teams!

silver and black

The Bay rivals...................
Gotta love the Raiders.
Play off bound once again........only if Charles 'fucking hit em' Woodson stays wid us, he is only the only member of that D that has heart, lead tha NFL in tackles 4 DB's and miss what 3 games. Come on he is under rated and only injured cause he plays CB, SS and LB as no one else can.
Wid Randy Moss drawing DB's whos gonna cover Jerry Porter, Curry or even Teyo J. ahahahahahah good luck.
We only need some help on D but hey wif us going back to the 4-3 maybe it will happen.

"JUST WIN BABY"

I know everyone hates to hear it but I'm going with the Pats again. Tom Brady is a true class athlete. The man even adjusted his salary to allow for the future rebuilding of the team in order to remain in contention. It would be so easy for him to demand big bucks, do very little and sit on his past trophies. Good work Tom. Best of luck in the new season.

"To be the man, you have to beat the man." So far, no one has beaten the Pats.

Great topic, Primetime. Baseball sure isn't "Gittin' R Done."

AFC -- Patriots. Belichick's too smart. If they get too dinged up, Steelers could sneak in for Bettis's last hurrah. The Indianapolis Colts are never tough enough to win the big ones. Most improved -- Bengals. Chargers could make noise -- Brees is for real.

NFC -- The re-tooled Vikings. Dumping Moss is the smartest thing they've done since Robert Smith. If they get homefield advantage, watch out. Vick can't complete enough passes and is still a moving target. Owens will now become a cancer in Philly. Packers lost too much in off-season.

Super Bowl -- Can't see anyone stopping New England. Perhaps the greatest juggernaut ever.

Lions fan here too and proud of it. No matter how bad they do. Its frustrating and each year at draft time you keep hoping that they will make some wise choices. It seems to be that they haven't had an onfield leader in a long time. Someone from the team to really motivate them. I keep hoping that in my lifetime things will turn around.

Watch out for the Arizona Cardinals, they just might surprise people this year.

Are Ya Ready For Some Football!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:veryhappy

DALLAS COWBOY fan here, have been since I was a small child, and ALWAYS will be loyal and faithful to my team!!

Unsure about this year. A plus here and there, but nothing to brag about the team this year. But time will tell!!!!

NOW!!!!! I am a die-hard football fan, I would rather starve than miss a football game. BUT!!!!!!! if given the choice of a Dallas Cowboy Super Bowl appearance or a Tickle Bowl!!!!!!!!!, bring on the feathers, and the restraints girls cause you get first choice........even over a Super Bowl!!!

(i'm gonna get bashed for saying this) :dropatear

I am really going to miss Bocephus on those Monday night telecasts. I looked forward to that as much as the games. It'll be harder to get ready for some football!!! without Hank, Jr.

You know I forgot we won't have him this season, and you are absolutely right Football just won't be the same without hearing his ballard on ABC Monday night!! DAMN :sadcry:

well my phins are looking to be a nicely rounded offensive team..but the defense i will have to wait to see. Ricky Williams who is coming back off retirement(cause he got high!) will likely share time with 1st round pick Ronnie Brown in the backfield. Chambers and a healthy David Boston will complete out the Wide Recievers and McMicheals, when his dumbass isnt beating his wife will make a great tight end this year.

Other teams I follow..

Cleveland Browns..retooled and looking to win an impressive 5 games. Evel Knievel..errr..I mean Kellen Winslow Jr would a been a huge factor had he not tried to be a "star boy*" and damn near kill himself. Tall and athletic wide reciever Braylon Edwards will be coming in and the qb's...well theres about 8 right now..so i will see who all makes it and tell ya how that is. O-line is looking impressive and Crennel has been doing a good job in his first year as head coach with offseason moves. Big thanks to Butch Davis and Art Modell who both have screwed the fans of cleveland over.since 1995.

Detroit Lions..MY girls' from Mich. so Yeah I follow detroit teams.(actually always have) Lions have a hell of an offensive coming in...with Garcia at QB, Williams, Williams and associates at the wr..if Charlie stays healthy and doesnt snap his collarbone again...watch out..another Minnesota Three deep again (carter, moss, reed)
Kevin Jones will be a hell of a back too. Defensive should be a little better this year so they may have a decent year..but nothing close to the pistons.

* Star Boys are a group of stunt crotch rocket riding freaks that know what they are doing, unlike Winslow.

Pretty intriguing. They're certainly moving in the right direction with Dennis Green and -- suddenly -- a running game! But I think they're at least a year away from contention. Their weak division helps them a lot, though.

Ah...the LIons have a great history...you just have to be a fna of the 50's and 60's! Seriously..they had one of the best teams ever back in the 50's!

AARRGHHH!

Brady, the Patriots, heck ANYONE in the NFL...will redo a contract. They still get their money...just at the end! LOL! I'm so tired of that organization being called so superior to all others! They are a very good team that has had tremendous stability in the front office and coaching. But for about three plays last year they would not have even been IN the superbowl.

That said, they play in an awful division and should contend this year. I just wonder, if they don't, will Belichek still be a genius? Or will they start calling him the names they called him when he coached in Cleveland?!?! LOL!

I never rule out the Colt. Problem is they have to play three perfect games in the playoffs and so far their defense hasn't been able to do it.

Of course I still back the Steelers. You can't imagine they will repeat last year. But THINK they will win the division...probably at 10-6 and probably by a single game over the Ravens or, maybe, the Bungles! They are going to be tough this year!

Who can't talk about the Eagles in the NFC? Basically the same team as last year and maybe a little angry at their SB performance?

Don't fret Dallas fans! As much as I dislike the self-proclaimed "America's Team" who can't rule out what Parcells might be able to do. Admittedly it would be nice if he had a QUARTERBACK!!

I agree that Vick will not win anything...at least not anytime soon. No quarterback who was PRIMARILY a scrambler has won anything big in my humble opinion.

Whew!

I'm ready to put on the pads!

How bout dem COWBOYS and yes, we are America's Team. We will do better than last year, for sure, Super Bowl? not yet. maybe next season. We had a good draft, and we picked up some free agents to help fill some holes, so we're looking good. I cannot wait for football season. I wish these next few months would pass already

I agree that Minnesota is going to be a much better team without Moss. Daunte Culpepper will be utilizing a new passing scheme involving all three recievers, rather than hanging everything on one guy. The defense has been beefed up nicely over the summer...Fred Smoot and Antoine Winfield could be the best pair of CB's they've had in a while. With the other teams in the NFC bottoming out, I can see the Vikes pulling an 11-5 or 12-4 this year. Now, the playoffs are another story...

Every year has some surprise team, and I think Cincy might do that this year. Of course, New Orleans still loks great on paper but can't seem to use all of those weapons effectively.
