Hmmm...let's see.
Wild Card
Cincy over the Jets. The Sunday Night game was an aberration, not a display. In Cincy...the Bengals roll once they get a little ahead and New York has to rely on Sanchez.
Dallas over Philly. While I hate to say it, and would love this game to go the other way...Dallas is coming in hot. The Cowboys can beat almost anyone when hot, and can be beat by anyone if not. The hot streak will carry over against Philly, although it will be close.
Baltimore over New England. No Wes Welker? No defense or faith in the defense? The Pats go down. Not that Baltimore's much better, but they are gonna throw the kitchen sink at Brady, who'll have few reliable options. A key turnover should decide this one.
Green Bay over Arizona. Of course, the Cards could go on a sudden tear like they did last year, but I don't see it. Green Bay is far more balanced than people give them credit for, and way under the radar. Defense is solid enough to contain an offense that may be missing Boldin as a weapon.
Divisional
Indianapolis over Baltimore. Ravens have enough to get past New England...not Indy. Dwight Freeney and Robert Mathis should get to Joe Flacco about six times.
Minnesota over Dallas. Hot streak ends in the Metrodome. Minny's got the best defensive line in the NFL, a lot of weapons and a battle-tested field general.
Cincy over San Diego. I know, I know....but doesn't everyone pick the top rated teams? And don't we have unexpected upsets EVERY single year? Here's one. Call it a gut feeling, but I think the Bengals ride the tide of their first playoff victory in decades.
Green Bay over New Orleans. Yep, another one. Mostly because I'm a Saints fan almost as much as I'm a Vikes fan...and there's no way the football gods are gonna give me that kind of win-win situation for the NFC championship game. Plus, the Saints have been showing cracks in the defensive armor, and have been going back to the "throw 60 times" approach after being balanced before they started to lose. Green Bay could come in and totally shock the Saints.
Championship
Minnesota over Green Bay. Third time's the charm. Minnesota will NOT lose in an unexpected home championship game. Not to the Packers. Minny matches up well against the Pack...the D-line can get to Aaron Rodgers around those tackles. Outside blitzes kill Green Bay. Minnesota gets to their first Super Bowl since the '76 season.
Cincinnati over Indianapolis. Upset of the Year. And someone's gotta call it. Mostly because I picked a Minny/Cincy Super Bowl for my official pick at mid-season, and why turn back now? In for a penny, in for a pound or some shit like that. Everyone picks the #1 or #2's...and they NEVER make for a top-seeded match-up in the Big Game. Plus, thinking with my head...Indy just has that way of winning a billion regular season games and then finding a way to fuck it up in the playoffs. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see a Manning/Favre Super Bowl...we haven't had a game between two still-playing legends since the Bradshaw/Staubach days. While Indy should win this one, I gotta stay with my gut here and ride the horse I started with.
Super Bowl
Minnesota over Cincinnati. Not just a fan-pick, although that does honestly play into it. The window's been open for a couple years for Minny and now they have the one piece they've been missing. They will NOT blow this chance and Favre will go out a champion again. They're the most balanced team out there right now on both sides of the ball and for once, picking Minny is more head than heart.
Those are my picks...guess we'll see what happens. Playoffs are a crazy time. We've seen stranger happen. Arizona in the Super Bowl last year? The Eagles even making the playoffs, let alone coming within a couple plays of the SB? Who would have picked the 5-0 Giants or 6-0 Broncos missing the playoffs? Fun times ahead....
