Who in your opinion is the team of this decade in the NFL. This decade is about over and with 2 seasons left things could change but i think things are pretty set to make a judgement. In my opinion only 2 teams could seriously be considered for the team of the decade the New England Patriots and the Pittsburgh Steelers

Patriots- 102 regular season wins and 42 regular season losses. 6 playoff appearances and 3 superbowl wins. But what may hurt the Patriots in the eye of the public is the fact that they were cheating from 2001 to 2006 with illegal video taping including their first superbowl win. But they also had a perfect regualr season in 2007

Steelers- 94 regular season wins and 49 losses with 1 tie. 6 playoff appearances and 2 superbowl wins. No cheating scandel here, there is no question they did it clean but the pats have more wins and one more superbowl

Either of these teams could be called team of the decade and i dont think too many people would disagree but due to the cheating scandel i would go with the Steelers because i think the cheating really diminishes what the Pats have done. Granted more wins and 1 more superbowl would make them easily the team of the decade without the scandel but i cant overlook that

What are your thoughts on this?

Two words... Cincinnati Bengals :gbtoast:

No no, you're confused. The Bengals only have a good team once a decade.

I can't answer this as I'm totally biased. I'm a die-hard Steelers fan and I fucking hate the Pats. My choice is rather obvious.

If the Steelers win the Super Bowl this season then it will be tougher to answer. The Patriots are the team of this decade right now.

Steeler fans need to realize that they are behind on Super Bowl appearances, Super Bowl wins, AFC Championships, League MVPS, wins, winning percentage...

The Steelers have lost two AFC Championship Games to the Pats. With home field advantage.

There is no argument.

The Patriots are the best team this decade.

clearly i stated that in the op but said i dont think they deserve to be called that because of the cheating scandel, they were cheating from 2001-2006

Another thing the Steelers are behind on is Super Bowl LOSSES. So in the biggest game of all, the Steelers are a perfect 2-0. The Pats are 3-1.

Not saying that the Steelers should be the team or not. With two years left it is neck and neck in my opinion. Both teams are worthy. I agree if the Steelers get 1 more and the Pats do not, then the Steelers would be in my opinion the TOTD. However if it all stays the same or the Pats win another, then the Pats would be.

As far as the cheating goes, nothing will ever go in the record book about it, we can talk all the smack we want about the proven cheating charges but when the only repercussion was some lost draft picks....it kind of shows where the league wanted history to stand.

The Patriots are currently the team of the decade, but if the Steelers win next year... Well, that will be very interesting....

All the better to make the argument.

Four AFC Championships to two.

That's a much greater sustainment of excellence.

Steelers still greatest franchise in modern era...

As a Chiefs fan, I recognize that the Pittsburgh Steelers are the greatest team of the post-merger era.

Six Super Bowl victories, the greatest defense of ALL TIME in 1976 (9.8 points allowed per game), a ton of Hall of Famers (including my favorite Steeler of all time🙂

...and the greatest D-Line of all time...

As a Chiefs fan, I can only be jealous and respectful...

I like the Patriots and they are the team of the decade...but the Steelers have more greatness.

What do we say about the Buffalo Bills then???!?!?!?? LOL.

Rob

Hey man, at least the Bills won 4 straight AFC championships and many more division titles last decade... and continue to accumulate first-ballot Hall of Famers off that team... Pittsburgh's state rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles, cannot say the same this decade...

But, as far as the subject matter of the thread, I gotta go with the Patriots as much as I, being a Bill's fan, hate them... If Pitt. wins another within the decade, the argument changes I think... But if the Pats win another, there is no argument.

Nothing, because the Patriots actually won the chip multiple times, which is more than the Steelers have this decade.

Even if they do it again, they will still be tied.

And unless they somehow can pull ahead of them with wins (and they won't, the Pats will win at least ten), all they can do is match them for Super Bowl victories.

And the Patriots are the only team to have repeated as champions.

And steroids.

Don't forget more steroids.

as did/does everyone else in football, its pretty much accepted in the sport. At least 6 well known players are suspended a year for steroids and no one really gives it a second thought.

PS no steeler in the history of the orginization has ever tested positive for steroids, that is a hunch people have because the 70's steelers were far supperior to anyone else in the decade. But again, you can look it up no steeler has ever tested positive or recieved a suspension for steroids

They didn't test for them back then.

So, in one way, you are saying "hey, everyone did it" and in the next are saying "but the Steelers...there's no proof...no proof at all!" No. The Steelers have a long, storied tradition of being roid heads.

And the 70's? Completely irrelevant.

The New England Patriots are the team of this decade.

How fortunate for all of us to have your infinite wisdom to help us all get thru life. He's saying that since they started TESTING, no Steelers have been busted. But it's a moot point anyway, since 'roid use has nothing to do with the topic at hand.

Bottom line, if Pittsburgh wins the Super Bowl again in the next 2 years, they are the team of the decade. If not, I grudgingly give it to the Pats

for this decade, I think the Patriots. they have been a real success this decade, they've gone to 4 superbowls, the only one they lost was in 2000. Last season they had an almost perfect season, winning every single game except the superbowl..

but yeah, it's probably this is their decade.. yeah the stealers one two superbowls this decade but we're just talking about how teams played this decade, not how teams have played ever so you can't include the 4 superbowls the steelers have gone to before this decade because we're just talking about this decade so it would have to be the Pats..

Bottom line: you are a Steelers honk who doesn't get the simple concept that even if you win the Super Bowl this year, you still are down an AFC Championship, and might be behind on victories. And if that is the case, then the Steelers are not the team of the decade because they did not do as much in this decade and have yet to win in a post season match up against the Patriots.

You are playing to solidify your number two spot, regardless of how this season goes.

I'm not super big into NFL but I know enough about both teams that I find it a hard choice. With the Pats yes they've been quite a team this decade but there are some questions surrounding them, not just Spygate. I remember the Pats for two things: the "forward pass" vs. Oakland and Adam Vinatieri winning them two said Superbowls with his foot. As a team, I think they've played the most consistently over the last decade.

Then there's the Steelers: always a perennial favourite but more so when Roethlisberger came in. They could be THE TEAM solely on global fan base alone: seems like there are Steelers fans everywhere now popping out of the woodwork.

I'd have to go with the Pats for this reason: even though they didn't win it all, the fact that they went and sent a message that Spygate didn't affect them by going undefeated during the season and playoffs, minus Superbowl, is a bold statement to make. I would actually go against the grain for team 2 and say Indianapolis: it was Peyton Manning and said Colts who got me to watch NFL more in the first place.

I think if the Colts can win the chip again, they are easily team number two.

Patriots are the team of this decade like it or not. I'm a Jets fan so you can imagine my sorrow posting this! 😉

better hope none of your fellow jets fans see this you may not make it out of your house LOL

The "Team of the Decade" title isn't important. The Steelers can make a case for being the best team in NFL history, New England can't.
