The Chiefs go to 7-1 with a hard fought 30-23 win over Denver. Mahomes has now thrown for 300 plus yards in seven straight games and added 4 touchdowns. Credit the Chiefs defense. They gave up a lot of yards but sacked Keenum 5 times and forced two turnovers.

A few comments about the Thursday night game. I have never seen a game begin with back to back penalties before the first play from scrimmage. After starting the season 0-3 the Texans have won five in a row and look like a dangerous team going forward.

In London the Jaguars have now lost four in a row and seem to be in meltdown. Eagles 24-18.

The Panthers hung 36 points on the vaunted Ravens defense in a 36-21 win.

The Lions up and down season continues with a home loss to Seattle 28-14.

The Redskins take possession of first place in the NFC East with a 20-13 win over the hapless Giants.

After a somewhat promising start the Browns are regressing, losing to the Steelers 33-18. Cleveland is a young team and I expect better things for them if not this season then next.

Jameis Winston was benched after throwing four interceptions including one returned for a touchdown. Ryan Fitzpatrick led the Bucs back to a tie but the Bengals win on a last second field goal 37-34.

Andrew Luck & Co. pound the now 1-7 Raiders 42-28.

The Rams go to 8-0 with a 29-27 win over the Packers.

The Cardinals pick up their second win of the season 18-15 over the 49ers.

The Chiefs keep rolling. The defense is starting to get that bend but don't break moniker. But that's true of a Bob Sutton defense.

The Texans are now starting to look like a force, and the Jags are looking more hapless every week after a strong start.

For the second time in as many weeks the Ravens' D looks a notch below invincible.

The Giants and the Raiders and 49ers are still dumpster fires, the Cards, a little less. Manning has a no trade clause, and Carr is losing the Raiders' locker room.

It looks as if the NFC least will have a division winner with a .500 season or less.

Fitzmagic should be leading the Bucs.

Last but not least, I thought the Pack would knock the Rams from the realm of the unbeaten, but for the first time, the Rams looked vulnerable.

One more thing, I think Kareem Hunt has been taking lessons from Edwin Moses, the famed Olympic high hurdler!

Dee Ford was a beast Sunday. Jones and Speaks looked pretty good too.

They are showing some cracks. Still, I'm glad that game will be at Arrowhead.

The Giants have to move on from Manning one way or another. I'll be surprised if he's back next year. It looks like Carr won't be traded, at least this season.

I read Fitzpartick has been named the starter next week. Unless he breaks a leg or something Winston may not see the field again this season. Won't surprise me if they cut him loose after the season.

Man, the Packers came so close. That fumble on the last kickoff was a dagger to the heart.
