A deal has finally been reached between the NHL and the NHLPA, still pending ratification by both sides!! :xpulcy: Its been a looooooooooooooooooooooong haul for die hards like me, but I know the league has their work cut out for them in trying to win fans back, me included. I'm just relieved its finally over and we can consentrate on getting the greatest sport in the world back on the ice - hey, I'm from Toronto, whatya want! 😛 - GO LEAFS GO, let the games begin!!! :bouncybou

I am glad for hockey fans like you and Limeoutsider. 😀

Thanks, Mils! 😀 On a side note, I'm not at all happy about Doc Halladay from the Blue Jays being side lined with a broken leg 🙁 Bye, bye Blue Jays :dropatear

finally the nhl is back. sports was so boring this year. After the football season it was basically only Basketball until baseball came on. I'm glad finally some hockey will be played

This could be the greatest news ever. Ive been watching college hockey reruns on the fox college sports channel for a while now just to get my hockey fix.

i'm with you Baron, the devils are the best. they should win the cup this year

Sorry all you Leafs and Devils fans, once again it's going to be the Red Wings hoisting Lord Stanleys Cup when it's all said and done. LET'S GO WINGS!

You WISH!! :imouttahe

LOL, but really... I'm just happy the game is back, no matter what the outcome :cool2:

:bouncybou WOOT!!!!! OMG I'm soooo looking forward to the season starting, now. Thanks, Leafstk for the great news!!!!

GO WINGS!!!!!!

NT, you're a brat but luv ya anyway. But I'd be curious to see that jumping jack, cartwheel and heel click. 😀

Read in Cosmo that teams that wear red win more than teams that wear any other color....

....like when the devils, in red beat the red wings in...um, red!

what do you guys think of the new rules. I like them, having a shootout after overtime, and taking out the redline, I think it's great

I don't mind the shoot-out idea, so long as that doesn't happen in the playoffs. The red line.... not sure what difference that will make, not sure about that one. I"m all for reducing the size of goalie equipment, but I'm not at all crazy about the notion out there that they should change the size of the nets.

Hockey? Sport? Ice?

What are these strange cocepts of which you speak......?

Seriously, the season was hardly missed here in the states.....sadly for the NHL i feel it will take quite some time to build interest again accept for the diehard fans. I havent watched a game in over 8 years myself...... :idunno:

The rule changes are all designed to increase scoring. The NHL is attempting to lure new fans to the game to make up for the ones that were disgusted with the strike and won't come back anytime soon. Most casual observers would enjoy a more high scoring game rather than the 2-1 or 3-2 games that were commonplace in the pre-strike NHL.

BIG Bruins fan here. Very glad to see the game back. One thing the NHL has to be aware of..It's the fans that make who you are so heal neal and tremble before us and of course dont forget to bow :bowing: :xpulcy:

Damn,damn,damn!!!

this time without hockey was so beautiful...i didnt have to worry about it taking up time on espn but now its over...hockey is the worse of all the sports including golf...i hope for the sake of you nhl fans that the new rules work as planned otherwise its going to be trouble, trouble, trouble...they only have fans in a few certain areas...the original six areas, whatever they may be, is what i heard on espn...i dont know which will end first...the nhl or the wnba...but at least football is coming...GO COWBOYS with them 5 superbowl trophies...and they dont wear red

while I agree with the "GO COWBOYS" remark..

hockey is still pretty popular here.

I think the new rules and such will bring in many new fans.

if you think it's tough being a hockey fan in the US...try being a soccer fan *cries*

(although on september 10th, im going to an FC Dallas game against D.C. United, and im going to meet freddy adu, so it's all good) :veryhappy

Leaf, Iam very happy for you, my good friend, that the NHL is back. I felt your pain. Being the huge baseball fan Iam, I remember how awful it was in 1994 to have the players go on strike in August, and to have no World Series that year, and how positively elated I felt when they came back. For good measure, my team, the Braves, won the World Series in the first year back, so it was doubly special for me.
I hope you enjoy the season this year. You and other hockey fans who have suffered deserve it, after the difficult year without your favorite sport.

Mitch
