Alright, if any of you people who like prog metal have not heard Nightwish...LISTEN TO NIGHTWISH! This band is awesome! Also, it's a departure from other prog bands in that they have a female lead vocalist. She's an angel. Yep, alchemy's in love once again. Her style is very operatic so it fits in with their epic keyboard laden sound. There are also touches of death and black metal here and there. Of course, they're never going to come to Houston, but since our album seems to be gaining popularity in europe, maybe we'll actually get to do a show with them at some point. Wishfull thinking you say? Maybe, and then again maybe not. I never in my wildest, most demented dreams thought we would be opening for Helloween, and yet, there we were last Feb. Anyway, check out Nightwish.

the finnish singer who has (this solves the "opera style?") been a opera singer before and so... she wishes to combine opera with metal ... and she's done a nice work indeed...

Another great female-fronted band is Edenbridge:

They used to have clips from a lot of their songs on there; I couldn't find them just now, but I'm in a bit of a hurry. I like their singer a lot better than Nightwish's, because the operatic style of vocals saps them of a lot of the passion in my opinion. Edenbridge's singer Sabine has a better voice and a better delivery far as I'm concerned.

the hollywood brother got a freind who is in lust with nightwish and he even travelled to the dangerous new york city to go see them. The hollywood brother has heard them on one occasion but was not bowled over the same way he was as a young hollywood brother and hearing Dee Snider scream that he wants to rock! Now that is something that almost twenty years later still kicks ass just like the hollywood brother

i do hope to go to it, im already mad i missed ted nugent and will be missing out on Motley Crue but i saw H.I.M and Auf Der Maur so im happy for now

Ok, I had to reserrect this thread. Yeah, my obsession with Nightwish/Tarja is starting to reach unsafe levels. It's already occured to me to spend all of my upcoming quarterly bonus on just Nightwish gear. I've even thought of putting a post on the Nightwish forum expressing my hopeless love for Tarja. *shakes head* ugh...I think I need help or something. :weird: I'm even sitting here trying to rationalize why she would want to make time for a nobody like me (who lives 1000's of miles away and does not speak a word of Finnish). Well, I am a signed musician...uh...if our next album does really well in Europe, we might be asked to go there...and who knows...YEAH RIGHT!

You know what is sad really...how we as humans tend to distance ourselves from each other. We put some of us on pedistals and look down at everyone else. If you are famous or are wealthy, the only limit is your imagination. Notice how all the famous and the beautiful people seem to flock together. Normal people are then left to mingle among themselves, knowing that there are certain people in this world that are unattainable. Even common people do this to each other. Instead of being open to each other, we seek to live in our own little world with our own little circle of friends...quite content to shut everyone else out and shoot down the occasion fool that for some reason might seek to breach that barrier. Heaven forbid we have contact with each other. Heaven forbid that we talk to people we don't know. Heaven forbid we treat each other like human beings once in a while. That is the reason for sadness, for war, for violence, for famine...you name it. We are so concerned about being divided from each other that we never once stop and think that maybe that separation, that divisiveness is where all of our suffering comes from.
If I do indeed suceed with my music and attain a degree of fame, I will NOT put myself upon a pedistal. I will always make time for not only my fans but people around me. That is why I have so much respect for people like Ronnie James Dio or the guys of Iron Maiden. They all make time for people. They all take time with their fans. The last time I met Dio, after the show, he spent at least 10 minutes with each fan that was waiting for him. Here is a man who arguably has the right to act like asshole in that he is a living legend, and yet he has ALWAYS gone above and beyond for his fans and the people around him.
Oh well...I've said my peace...
Tarja, you have no idea who I am...and probably could care less...but i love you.
