Subduing someone at a gun's point was and is a popular plot device in some comics and stories, too.

I think I've seen something like that on Baldazzini's Bizzarreries site, and on some vintage photo-story books.

Oh, yes, and on some FM Concept photo sets.

Chloroform works well in fiction, but it actually irritates the skin and it isn't surefire as some story-writers claim. 🙂

A viable way is probably to overpower the subject by sheer force of number or by physical strength.

Five determined women can probably overbear an adult man and throw him off-balance long enough to apply a ball-gag.

Unless the man receives some help - or can react quickly enough, dealing with one or two women at a time - he is probably doomed... 😀
