Officiating crews in the playoffs

I know that the NFL assigns refereeing crews to playoff games according to a ratings system on how well they did during the regular season. So can anyone tell me why, when they had blown two major calls that determined outcome of the games (the Denver/San Diego game being the one stuck in my mind) that Ed (I throw the flag so that my gams get air time) Hoculi's crew was on one of the AFC wild card games?

His crew was rated the best in the NFL according to the coaches...this was from the CBS broadcast yesterday. Hoculli is a great ref (and a great example of what forearms should look like) and he and Mike Carey consistently rate as the top in the league. Just keep him off the San Diego game and there's no issue...the coaches and players all say he (and Carey) are the best and they know a hell of a lot better than the fans.

It just seems like everytime my Chiefs have played in the last few years (and, yeah, I know they haven't been good at all) and have a chance to win the game, that a flag from his crew seems to ruin our chances by stalling a drive or extending our opponents drives. Some of the flags have been legit but some of them, I wonder what game they are seeing, because it certainly dosen't seem to be ours.

Needless to say, Hoculi is not my favorite. I would prefer Mike Carey's crew, he is a fantastic ref.

Hochuli is a great ref. His team made a mistake and still finished as the highest-rated crew in the NFL. That means that even with the mistake he made in Denver, he's still better than the other refs in the league. The NFL reviews the performances of the crews for every game. We know what Hochuli did because it gained so much attention from the media, but we don't know what mistakes other refs made because they weren't as scrutinized.

Not only that, lets not forget that San Diego had 2 more chances after that call to stop Denver and win the ball game, but they blew those chances, I'm surprised that so many people neglect to mention this exact point.

30 odd seconds and the Chargers Defense had 2 opportunities to prevent Denver from A: Scoring the touchdown, and B: Scoring the two point conversion.

ah ok i get what you mean now.. i thought you meant they got the ball 2 more times... you are right they coulda stopped them
