I just saw the movie Knockaround Guys for the first time. I thought it was good without being great. But there's a fight scene that really blew me away. It starts with Vin Diesel giving a speech about how he decided when he was a kid that it would take 500 fights for him to become a legitemate tough guy, "for the experience, and to develop leather skin." Then when the fight starts, the song that plays over the extremely one-sided pounding is Romeo's Tune, by Steve Forbert. It's a really gentle piano-based love song, with these lyrics playing while Diesel dishes out a sickeningly efficient beating,
Meet me in the middle of the day
Let me hear you say everything's okay
Bring me southern kisses from your room
Meet me in the middle of the night
Let me hear you say everything's alright
Let me smell the moon in your perfume
The contrast is really striking, and it's one of the very best fight scenes I've ever seen.
