The passengers seemed to be taking it with good humo(u)r, actually; only the crewmember on the PA appeared to be majorly rattled. If this had been a U.S. carrier, already punches would have been thrown and threatened lawsuits loudly declaimed.

Probably programmed the autopilot wrong; virtually everything is automated now. I think the pilots really only deal with the takeoff and the landing.
