Other types of music we enjoy

Ah....music!

Much like ticklingduo I have a wide range of favorites...from Sinatra to ZZ Top to Bobby Vinton to weird Al!

Actually anything that is fun or funny I'll listen to like a Biz Mark E rap or Toby Keith "You ain't much fun since I quit drinking"!

I actually worked as a DJ (hold your applause) for several years. Some of that time was a CW station which played all the new stuff but I dug the Hank Williams (Sr. & Jr.) and older stuff too.

My dad raised me on 50-60's and I probably didn;t start listening to contemporary music until the early 80's (when I was in my teens).

Plus I'm a huge Weird Al fan...lol...I've been to several concerts...met him twice and own darn near everything he's produced! (btw Dementoids and Dementites Al is currently working on a new album! New Album=New Tour! Stay tuned!)

Ok...sorry to ramble but I agree with most you when I say I love music!

The only music worth playing is SOUSA MARCHES!

SOUSA MARCHES and nothing but SOUSA MARCHES!

I'm playing one RIGHT NOW!

(Daumantas gets up and marches briskly back and forth across the room)

SOUSA MARCHES!
😀 🙂 😎 😛 :wow:

I've got a two disk set of his marches. Love them! They're great to do housework, gardening or exercise to since they're so energetic.

As a muso, not only do I like quite a bit modern-day rock (Radiohead, Manics, Jeff Buckley, Nirvana, et al), I'm into a hippie group called Love. Their album "Forever Changes" is one of the best damn albums I've ever heard. I like good songwriters like Carole King and little-known Chicago guitarist Terry Callier.

Hip-hop is superb. Obviously people who think that Dre, Puffy and Eminem only exist in this genre really don't do no homework. Outkast, Busta Rhymes and suchlike are my faves in today's hip-hop music due to their unique styles and not blurting all that "ho-bitch" most of the time, but rap haterz probably haven't heard of Public Enemy. Best narratives in hip-hop ever. Yeah boyee.

Tapestry..

By Carole KIng is one of the best CDs ever. EXCELLENT Lyrics and Tapestry is an EXCELLENT tune. In fact all her tunes are.
No I don't think Dre and Puffy and Eminem are the only "Hip Hop" artists around. I was pointing out that they all have their quirks. By the way anyone who hasn't heard of Public Enemy must have been sleeping the whole 20th century. Outkast is about average. But all their songs sound exactly the same so they get old very quickly.
Love is hardly an unknown band either. They just aren't nationally hot.

Personally even though there are groups I don't like I agree with something Richard Simmons once said

"Good music is anything song that makes one feel alive."

And that is what it's all about I guess.

I'm into the band "Love" too, Grippedchimp. My favorites are their first, and the album "False Start", which is more of a hard rock record.(Hendrix plays on the first track "The Everlasting First")

My musical interests are varied, and I enjoy most all formats. I can't sing my way out of a closet, but am the former drummer for both a contemporary christian and pop group (in my teens/ early 20's).

My favorite type of music is smooth jazz....Pat Metheny, Lee Ritenhour, Norman Brown, etc.

I also love soft rock and pop music...and my roots are grounded in both country and gospel music. I've recently become a huge fan of contemporary christian group Point Of Grace after seeing them perform live at a local mall last summer (their harmony is totally awesome). In fact, I'm listening to their CD "Steady On" as I type 🙂

It's gotten to the point to where all i listen to is dance, J-pop and Game OST's ....

Hey Ann...

Generally I like the 60's and 70's classic rock. Have pretty much lived and died with it. I like some of the new wave/ punk rock stuff that came out in the early 80's, but generally, that was the age of the one hit wonders.

I like some country music like Garth Brooks and Eddie Rabbet and I have been known to listen to some of the classics like Neil Diamond and Barbara Srteisand, though I think she is the quintessential prima donna.

If you were going to ask me what music I enjoy most, it has to be the classic rock- hands down

hmm....

besides rock(current and classic) i`ve gotten into the David Bowieish glam rock.any fans of that should go BUY not rent Velvet Goldmine...and then go by the soundtrack.great movie, great music, great soundtrack.

Japanese rock by way of Daisuke Ishiwatari (who is a mad genius - he created the universe of Guilty Gear X all by himself. The design, the music, the storyline, everything.)

On that note, I also am starting to get into Asian music in general - the Korean band Cherry Filter is getting a lot of attention from me. Try to find "Duck Flies", it's a great uplifting song.
