Overcoming ticklishness while getting a massage

When I was engaged to my fiance (now my ex) he used to give me massages and while I tried to relax, he would hit a tickle spot and I'd just start laughing. I read in a bood that I got recently about when a body is more relaxed it is not as ticklish as one that is tense. How do I overcome this for the future? I mean sometimes I kind of was able to and other times I just was cracking up.

Does anyone know how to overcome this? I'd really like to know.

:dogpile:

I've read about this and I think it's just horrid the way they act about ticklishness, as though it were a bad thing to be ticklish. If you learn to control it like that, it may decrease to the point that it wont be exciting anymore. Think it over...

I get massages every now and then, and I find myself WANTING it to tickle more than it does. I think the trick is just to go with it and enjoy it. If I put too much investment in wanting it to tickle, than I might be disappointed and not get as much out of the experience as I could, and (I agree with Hiryu) if I were to try some technique to reduce my ticklishness, I would be going down a path of less enjoyment. I think the whole point is just to feel good.

If you get a massage from a "professional(meaning you paid them" then you can tell them you are ticklish then they will use a firmer touch and stay away from known tickle spots...

Now if you are talking a non-professional giving a massage then you would probably have to TELL them you want a firmer touch for it NOT to tickle...a firmer touch using the whole hand or finger pads not the nail tips will also reduce ticklishness or a ticklish reaction...

Being REALLY honest here......

The heck with the ticklishness....how do i overcome getting an erection when i go for a massage at the health spa? 😛

Good luck with that one baby! :santasmil

Seriously speaking, some people just get turned on like that and it might be just out of your control. Ask for extra towels next time! 🙂

As far as jen's question is concerned, I offer the same answer-sometimes it's just out of our control. I remember getting a massage during physical therapy a long time ago. The therapist hit this spot on my back and I nearly flew off the table. Her response-she giggled at me and did it again! I knew nothing about the tickling world back then. Hmmmm....could she have been one of us? :smilelove

Maybe put that end where the face hole is and ask for a bucket to be placed underneath 😛

I am actually convinced the person I had give me a massage may have been one of us cos he actually deliberately massaged lightly down my sides saying he just needed to check something out before he got started properly. When I screamed as it tickled me he said "Right another ticklish one I see, best go a bit harder over there then" but he was grinning all the time he said it.

.....more towels please.......and can I have a bucket??? lol hahahahaha

To Jen and Sean

Sean, I'll bet many female massage therapists cause male clients to have an erection. I know I've had a few. If any of the women noticed what was happening under my towel, they were cool enough to overlook it. I of course didn't mention it!

Jen, I am ticklish all over but have yet to have a massage (that is, from a massage therapist) turn into tickle torture. A few strokes and kneads have tickled, especially on my feet and legs, but nothing got to the point where I had to tell the massage therapist, "Stop it, that tickles."

Alleluia to that! Its not even getting turned on...someone just has to touch my feet and *SPRONG*! LOL! Very embarrasing!

Come to think of it

A couple of responses here say they have had massage therapists purposely tickle them. That made me remember that massage therapy is a good career option for ticklers! Even better than shoe sales! The tickler/massage therapist gets to tickle more than just the feet of his or her victim and has them "where he or she wants them," nude, save a towel. Were I a massage therapist, I am not sure I could resist an "accidental" tickle or two with an attractive female client.

lymphatic drainage tickling

this is a timely post because of the massages I have been getting lately. I have been going to the same massage therapist for over a year and have gotten to the point where I only jump at a few points during the massage. I still jump at the first touch of my feet but then get used to it and also when she does my armpits.

Anyway, she has started receiving training in lymphatic drainage and has been trying out the techniques on me with my consent. I didn't know this before last week, but lymphatic drainage involves very light touch by the fingertips that is supposed to release toxins or something that are just below the surface of the skin. Last week she did my back for 45 minutes and there were times when I thought I was going to have to ask her to stop. After she was done, she asked me for my impressions. I told her that it felt good but tickled.

She then started talking about what it was like in her classes and how many of the people had ticklish spots where they could not take it. She said that the abdominal area was the worst. I told her that I would probably go crazy if she tried that on me but I would give it a shot. She responded by saying that she would just have to chuckle at me while she did it. On Wednesday, she will spend 45 minutes on my legs and feet. It could be very interesting.

My massage therapist, who is a female, said that she gets very uncomfortable when her clients get an erection. She's even had acouple of guys who came during a massage. I think you gotta be pretty deprived if you can't control an erection during a professional massage. You could always take care of things before the appointment. If the massage person takes their job seriously it could cause them to be very uncomfortable.

I really like these responses so far! I just want to say that sometimes when Lance would give me massages and I would try not to laugh when he hit a ticklish spot, he could tell I was holding back. So then he'd say something like it's okay to laugh and then I would. Sometimes, he would just give up the massage and tickle the heck out of me! It was fun even though he had the advantage because he was on top me but that's okay.

Nah...not deprived...just oversexed :whip:

I'm not sure how to overcome being tickled on your ticklish spots while your getting a massage. I think it depends who's giving the massage. Massage strokes are completely different from tickling so a pro masseur isn't supposed to tickle, at least not much. When I was in grad school in Michigan, I got a long massage from a lady and she didn't tickle me once. But I got a massage in Long Island once and the lady tickled the crap out of me! When she got to my legs, she started squeezing up and down on my upper legs. It tickled so much that I nearly jumped off the table. I was just a hair away from telling her it tickled when she stopped. To this day, I think she did it on purpose. She had to know that's a very ticklish spot for a lot of people and the "massage techinque" that she used on my upper legs seemed like a blatant tickle maneuver. So I think the massager-giver has a lot to do with whether the massage tickles you and makes you laugh.

The person I go to does deep tissue massage which feels absolutely awesome. I always sleep great after one of those. She spends a good amount of time on my feet and knows that it tickles, but I've told her not to worry about it because it feels really good and she's a strong believer in reflexology. It tickles to the point where I move my feet and legs a little by I don't laugh out loud. Occasionally, she hits a spot right on top of my hip bone and I jump...nothing I can do about that tickle spot! She's cool with it though, we know each other pretty well now so if i "grow" briefly she understands.
