Overrated

What things do you think get way more attention than they deserve?

My main one is "SpongeBob Squarepants". I think it's funny, but I don't think it's anywhere near as good as people make out. People act like it's the Jesus of the TV world, but there are so many other shows out there far more deserving of the attention and recognition this show gets.

I also think "The Simpsons" is overrated. It was good up until about Season 10-11, but now it just seems as though it's there solely to make cash. Let it die! The storylines are getting really daft. Anybody see that episode where Homer and Bart go underground where all the horse jockeys live and then they all start singing? That was the last Simpsons episode I watched. That was two years ago.

Sorry if this is turning into a rant. I'll just list some of the other things:

World of Warcraft
Little Britain (it was good until people started quoting it way too much)
David and Victoria Beckham (I refuse to call them "Posh and Becks")
Jade Goody from Big Brother (Potential for a 2 hour rant...)
South Park (Even big-time complainers have grown bored of its "controversial" storylines)

Okay sorry I'll stop now. Let's hear it from you guys - what things do people rave about that really don't deserve it?

I completely agree w/u about The Simpons. Back in the 90's, it was one of my favorite shows. But now in the last several years, it seems to have become much more random, and overall I think the quality of the show has suffered for it.

I also think that Tupac is overated. I mean yeah, he was a great rapper, but not the "God of Rap" alot of people make him out to be. Not to mention that his death made him even more popular.

One other thing I think is overated would definatly be FF7. I could go into one very long rant on why, but right now I'll just say that while it was a great game, it's hardly the "Best Game Ever".

I agree with you about these shows. Spongebob is great...but only if there's nothing better on. Classic simpsons beat modern simpsons anyday and little britain is, like you said, getting old.

And now I shall give some recommendations.

Simpsons >>> Family Guy. Family guy is far greater than the Simpsons. It's Fantastic!

SpongeBob >>> Fairly Odd Parents. The Arch Rival of Spongebob's on Nickelodeon. In my opinion FOP is better than SB because the lines are more original and I like the style of humour, blatent and random! XD

But any way, you lot my disagree with me on my recommendations, but that is true in my eyes! X)

True Little Brittain is getting old (this was my thought after episode two)
Comments on the Backhams: he is a good player but not great and she can't sing
Words that come to mind on the subject of Jade Goody: oink oink
I like south park but do not think it is great or the best just cool and funny

All rappers suck, metal rules

Some of my own:

I hated when movies are presented as the best (enter genre here) of the year/decade/milenium
Specially when they premiere in January or Feburary

I guess it is totally in the eye of the beholder really, but IMHO, most music on the radio is over-rated. Come to think of it, most anything you see on TV, hear on radio, read in the major media sources, is over-rated. To me, it is the genuine finds that aren't so easily discovered that really get my votes! Cheers!

1. They are NOT celebrities if hardly anybody has heard of them.

2. The only people who like this show are ITV presenters, and they only like it because they're told to.

I might actually argue this one. I bought it about a week ago. Now, I've heard good things and bad about it, and some have said it's overrated, but I'll confess, I'm hooked on it.

OMG.I knew it had t-shirts with it on,but never realised that it has its own PS2 game-now that is taking it a bit too far especially as it initially started as a ringtone!

As I stated earlier, it's a great game, but is overrated. Have u ever seen an ff7 fanboy? I sure have, and from what I've seen, about 2/3 of them absolutely boggle the mind, 😀 especially when it comes to "him".

So that's what I saw on TV. I caught part of an extended trailer with the frog racing in an elaborate 3D environment. The animation was pretty good, dispite the very annoying frog singing. I was afraid it meant the frog would star in some animation DVD. A game's almost as bad. But maybe you get to strangle the frog in the game, or at least repeatedly slam him into a retaining wall. I would buy that.
