Hey guys, it won't be out for a few months, but this movie is supposed to be one of the biggest of the Summer. I heard a lot of buzz about it last year, and they just came out with a new trailer for it today. Pacific Rim is basically giant monster vs robots controlled by people. It's not as simple as that though, here is the new trailer so you can judge for yourself. It looks awesome, especially using a ship as a baseball bat!! lol. Guillermo Del Toro is the director who was involved in The Hobbit and Hellboy movies. Enjoy

I'll happily wait this CGI yawnfest out til its on youtube for free. I'd rather Guillermo had made Lovecraft's Mountains of Madness or the 3rd Hellboy.

CGI yawnfest?

That's like going to a quiet rodeo.

I will admit that CGI is quickly becoming a lazy alternative to actually having a good plot, but some of these movies are anything but a yawnfest. I find them moderately more exciting than the olden-times sepia-toned movies of some obviously-fake giant, mutated ant tearing apart a miniaturized cardboard city. That kind of a movie couldn't have been good no matter what kind of plot devices you used.

You don't always have to have a believable plot to enjoy a movie. Sometimes you just have to sit back and appreciate the fact that you're watching something that would have sent the world into a frothing frenzy were it aired a hundred years ago.

Overall, it looks like an interesting movie, if nothing else. I'll probably watch it.

I'm definitely going to check it out, it's not like Michael Bay is directing it, lol. Del Toro actually has a good resume and the movie has an interesting back story to it.

Interesting side-note, that computerized voice you hear at the very beginning that says "Pilot-To-Pilot connection: engaged" sounds just like GLaDOS from Portal.

This movie looks better all the time! New trailer came out yesterday, and it looks so badass. Check it out!

Bothersome, I am one of those people who gets real critical about movies. Among the many things I really don't like hearing from people, at the top of the list is people saying that it's ok to just sit back and watch a movie without analyzing it. People like that are the reason why we had three transformers movies. That being said... Pacific Rim might be my guilty pleasure.

Here's a cool vid just released by Warner Bros on how the Jaeger aka the mechs/robots work, and what their names are.

Here is the main theme released on Rollingstone.com. It is awesome!! Ramin Djawandi who is the Iron Man and Game of Thrones composer, teamed up with Tom Morello from bands like Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave. Full soundtrack is out today so watch out for that, this main theme is just fantastic.

Here is the rest of the soundtrack. This is just the promo versions so they're only about 30 seconds each.

Also as stated from the interview I posted in my last post, this movie is based off of anime. Almost like an Evangalion type movie, but it's it's own story. Also rumors of a Collaboration movie with Godzilla which their is a new movie for next year. For now that is just a rumor, but that would be epic if that would happen.

Another awesome segment vid of Pacific Rim. Only two weeks to go until one of the best movies of the year!

I hope to hell it's good - this summer has been lackluster at the movies.

I hated the big reveal in Iron Man 3, and the movie was rather boring in parts. Star Trek II was better, but I had problems with the end.
I haven't seen The Lone Ranger, but my friends said it sucked, and at this point, it's bombed pretty bad.
White House Down looked to be good - until I read that the "terrorists" were Right Wing extremists and Jamie Fox is an Obama style president - yeah, I'll be skipping the
Left Wing propaganda. But then again, the critics, most of whom are liberals, said it sucked anyway, and it looked crappier and crapier the more the trailers played.

You know it's bad when the most entertaining movie so far was The Fast and The Furious 6!
(I haven't seen the cartoon yet, I hear they're great.)

Come oonnnnn Pacific Rim, don't let me down!!

Last I checked Pacific Rim had over 70% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, which is pretty good for a monster vs robot movie. It's it's own story and doesn't have to be stereotyped even though it is based off of anime, kaiju and mechs. Seeing it tomorrow, can't wait!

Im not a fan of movies with robots. ill wait until its on netflix. movies like Transformers bore me to death.

Those Jaegers are way better than the Transformers because they're controlled by two people with a neural link, plus they all have unique and badass weapons.

Anyways, just got back from the movie and it was what I thought it was be, awesome!! Acting was ok, nothing special, also the middle parts was a little slow but still had some interesting things going on. The action and visualizations were superb! I have heard rumors of a sequel and so far the movie is doing well. 3.6 million pulled in from the midnight showings and it is #1 in all 7 Asian markets. Also make sure you stay for the credits, they pull a marvel and show something halfway through. Nothing crazy, but it is pretty funny. Overall great movie and definitely worth a watch.

Looks like it made 14.3 million the first day. They're saying it could come in 3rd place this weekend. That is unacceptable, this movie is to good to pass up. Make sure you tell everyone you know to see this and spread the word. Their have been talks of a sequel, that will only happen if it does well in the box office.
