Got a few Questions about it for thoses that use pay pal 🙂


1. Can you use a debt card on pay pal's website to pay for ebay items that you bid on and Win?


2. Can you use any type of email address website (like Hotmail,Yahoo etc...) on pay pal once you first sign up for the service and start using it?

I'm going to go out of my way to assume you meant debit card? When you sign up for the paypal account it has to be tied to some kind of an account, preferably checking. They also have a place for a back-up credit card.

I've had my paypal account for awhile, but I think you can use a yahoo or hotmail email address-it should be fine.

well, my paypal is through one of my yahoo accounts (fuck if I remmeber which one), and all I ahve is a debit card, so you sohuld be OK

I have bought and sold on Ebay, and the answer to both of your questions, as Kis said, is yes. I have an Ebay account tied to my checking account, where money is removed by Paypal if I buy something. They also have a backup funding source, as he said, which is my Visa, in case my checking acct is short funds, and I have to charge say a large ticket item on a credit card.
As for your question about hotmail and yahoo accounts, I see no reason why not. I have AOL, and dont involve my yahoo account in my business or dealings on Ebay, but if you want to, I dont see any reason why you cant, as long as the account is a valid email address.

Thanks yeah all the information was helpful to me. But the reason why i was asking thoses two Questions was. Because i applyed for a debit card just today and i should be getting my debit card in the mail with in 2 Weeks time.

But once i do get my debit card and have it in my hands. Will i be able to use the debit card to sign for ebay with? or is that not possible at all?


Because me and my mom tried to sign me up for ebay to get my own account on ebay a few weeks ago (so my mom can have her own ebay account and i can also have my own ebay account). But i don't have a credit card at all! so i had to use my parents home e-mail address to register with ebay. But once it all went through we found out that my parents e-mail inbox wasn't working so we couldn't get the confirmation e-mail from my parents e-mail address (which is what i signed up with once i registered) that we needed. and all i have is my own Yahoo e-mail address but ebay won't take yahoo e-mail address or hotmail e-mail address anymore for some reason. They now will only take (AOL,Netscape,School or some other type of pay e-mail address) for credit card purposes. it even says on there main website.

But what i want to know is if there is any way that i can register with ebay by using the debit card INSTED of my parents credit card?

if there is not. then thats kinda defeats the whole purpose of me signing up for that debit card in the first place. that was my whole plan all along was to get my own ebay account (with OUT sharing my moms ebay account name)

If your debit card has the mastercard or visa logo on it, then you can use the card. You can use a checking account for paypal purposes as well (you can check if a savings acct. will be okay). Also, AOL has an email service for about 2.95/mo. where it'll be email only so that's a possible alternative for you.

I forgot that ebay needs a pay email service to register! Sorry about that one.

Thanks kis it did answer them. If the debit card doesn't have a mastercard or visa logo on it then (But i'm assuming it will have one of thoses logos on it,because its able to be used at the ATM as well). But if not. then i'll look into that AOL e-mail address for 2.95 a month service
