PE barefoot at school

Did any fellow member have to do PE lessons in his/her bare feet? If so, how did you feel about it?

I remember the floors being really dusty and cold underfoot. As far as I am aware, this was mainly a UK thing.

Any memories?

It's been over three decades since I was in school, but at that time, bare feet in PE was a no-no. Failure to have proper footwear (sneakers, tennis shoes, etc) was considered not dressing out, and could result in disciplinary action against the student. I actually recall a few classmates getting in trouble for wearing dress shoes onto the gymnasium floor; also remember a few girls being told to put on their shoes in PE class.

The only time in middle or high school I remember any PE students who weren't required to wear athletic shoes during class? Those who were on the trampoline.......and girls who were in gymnastics.

Lack of proper footwear in junior high/high school, as Koochee said, warrants discipline (namely being marked as not dressing out, thus losing points). As for college, it depends. I was often in socks or barefooted for my self defense class since we were often on the mats.

In Junior High School and High School we were required to wear sneakers and marked absent (which lowered our PE grade) if we didn't have them.

I don't think I've ever played a barefoot sport in any PE class.

I recall wearing socks only on a few occasions. Mainly if the floor had just been waxed...but yeah, our attire was part of our grade. Shorts, t-shirt, sneakers and socks required. And of a specific color...sigh.

All I remember is that we did some relay in middle school where you would run back forth while carrying a baton or something, and if you wanted to, you could choose to do it barefoot.

Some of the girls opted for this because it apparently gave them better traction on the waxed gym floor.

In my high school, you could get your physical education credits through different classes, including dance. We were allowed to be barefoot, but I never did that. Always stuck with socks. I hated how the people walked around barefoot, and shit.

Definately a UK thing dude, i remember we had to do PE barefoot if we forgot our 'pumps'. Remember them?

When I was in school, socks and shoes during PE was a requirement. I never noticed feet back then anyway. I was more into legs.

I recall the girls in PE being barefoot quite alot in the gym and I couldn't keep my eyes off their feet.

Maybe thats why I failed that class.

Maybe if they'd had co-ed yoga back then, I would have signed up, LOL

But no... proper attire was always a requirement in PE. I feel funny saying PE, cause that stood for something else entirely in college 😀
