Who watches this on Showtime?

I personally don't have cable, but my fiance got me into the show, and we get the discs through Netflix.com.

Anybody see the bible episode? Fucking class.

My favorite episode was about people in college

"We're all offended, all the time, and we don't have a fucking right not to be offended! A free country is a marketplace of ideas, and college should be more free, not less."

Yes.:ty:

It's hit and miss.

Sometimes, they're brilliant.

Other times, they neglect major facets of what they're talking about. Probably the most glaringly flawed episode they did was on environmentalism.

While they did make a lot of good points about how some people treat environmentalism like a religion, they neglected to show the negative sides of businesses that oppose environmental standards.

Not surprisingly, Penn and Teller are very corporate in their orientation. Many of their shows are corporate events, so it makes since that they would be much more guarded about criticizing big business than anything else.

Other than their corporate bias, however, they do make some excellent points.

I have a couple of shows on tape I enjoy it very much. They usually they do a lot of research , oh except that bible show you are talking about..that was pretty pathetic how they didn't do much research on that because they are atheists.

Made a point tho how people dont read\research and are just environmentalists to say they are, like when they signed a petition to ban water

Well of course, but... keep in mind that self-proclaimed environmentalists aren't the only people that are ignorant.

I think what Penn & Teller do best is show the ignorance of the average person. If I'm not mistaken, they did something similar with women's rights. They walked up to several people (mostly women) at some convention that had a liberal agenda and asked them to sign a petition to end women's suffrage. A lot of people made the elementary mistake of assuming that suffrage had something to do with suffering.

It's an old but amusing trick. Still, it just shows the average person overall isn't too bright. That's certainly not limited to people who consider themselves eco-conscious.

I went out and bought the first series on DVD after only seeing less than half of one episode. Anything those two do is epic stuff.
