Also anything that's "Not the normal" is looked on as freaky.
As for tickling. Someone who doesn't like to be ticked would be understandably uncomfortable about someone who particularly likes to tickle and would think it was strange that some people would enjoy something they find so unpleasant.

I think there's a stigma attached to foot fetishes in the vanilla world. It gets kind of propagated by the media and whatnot that foot guys are these creepy sexual deviants who would try to lick a girls feet out of nowhere. Or, they could adapt, and treat other people as human beings, who have their own urges and needs, and realize that every relationship involves some degree of compromise, communication, and a wish for both parties to be happy. Then everyone stands a much better chance of getting what they want.

That said, rejection is a part of life and everyone experiences it. Accepting it as that versus the end of the world, might help a person keep their self confidence and motivation to keep trying. That whole concept of feet being unclean because they come into contact with the ground isn't that prevalent in the western world.
It's really more about the fetishist being considered weird than the body part being unclean. Foot massages, toe sucking, etc aren't even considered that weird, like a singular obsession with the feet would be.

I think this is also a big part of the issue. People seem to start with the notion that they're weird rather than thinking they're normal. It's hard to push past the barriers you've already set for yourself.

In my experiences (granted it may be fairly limited), I've felt nothing but acceptance for my interests. I think a lot of it plays into how you perceive it yourself because you'll likely subconsciously project that onto how you introduce it to someone else, especially if they're more vanilla. If you act like it's weird, the other person is probably going to get the idea that it's weird.
