Please pray for Tickleshotel...

I am writing to ask you to keep Laurie aka Tickleshotel, in your thoughts as she is very, very ill.

For years she has suffered from migraine headaches and has now just received answers and diagnosis. She went to a neurologist to receive testing and the results are that she is experiencing seizures occurring in her brain somewhere up on the top right of her skull. There are no outward reactions that would be visible. The doctor has also concluded that the seizures could conceivably get worse and if they do, he wants her to go into the hospital where he can monitor her.

Other than the medication she is on now, the doctor says there is nothing additional he can do to help her, as there isn't a cure to prevent the seizures her migraines cause and so all she can do to alleviate the pain, is to take the medication when it occurs. The doctor also has no prognosis as to just what kind of a life she will have if the seizures get worse.

For those of you who know her, you will know that she has always been a strong, person even in her darkest days. But now she doesn’t feel strong and is very scared of this and what future she’ll have.

She is dealing with this the best she can and so I would like to ask, that if you know Laurie and care about her, to please keep her in your thoughts.

Whoa. Damn. I do not know Laurie personally, but have seen her posts around the site. She is one of a kind and a dear friend to many here. It really puts into perspective that we are not just faceless usernames behind a screen, we are all real people with real lives and real problems. I wish her all the best, fingers crossed, like others have stated. I can't begin to imagine what she is going through right now, but I do know that she has an entire community behind her here. We all love you and hope for the best. Stay strong Laurie. I hope you can pull through and return to the forum for some cheering up at some point 🙂

I have news from Laurie and she writes...

"This is an update on what I found out from my visit with my doctors regarding my migraine headaches and my prognosis.

They have concluded that since I am experiencing painful migraines more than a few times a week that the best and only treatment I have is to continue taking the medication prescribed as instructed to relieve the pain and to explicitly follow instructions on dosage. If and only when my migraines get worse causing nausea or more frequent than they are now making me unable to function. Then my doctor will increase the dosage as needed or he will prescribe a stronger medication or as last resort, be admitted into intensive care unit at hospital to be monitored for a period of 3 days to a week to analyze any triggers that may be connected to the seizures occurring in the brain. I have also been instructed to add b12 to my diet. They also want to conduct a study on how I lay down to sleep, whether my head is positioned properly and see if any nerves are being pinched etc.

So the final thought is for me to continue taking the medication as instructed, to relieve the pain and to keep a daily journal of how I am feeling each morning and throughout the day until I go to sleep. Please hope with all your heart that my migraines don't get worse and there is improvement. I'll keep you updated of anything new."
