I just saw a video on Fark where an Austin Highway Patrolman has a car stopped on the side of the highway, asks for license and registration, and when the woman driving fails to produce these (about 4 seconds of waiting time) he demands that she step out of the car, he orders her to the back of the car, and then promptly tazers her. The jackass' dashboard camera caught the entire event. I say, kill him. Seriously, I think cops with power issues should be put down. Truthfully, I think there are good cops, but I think that what attracts most people to the job is the power. People that want to be cops, are not the people that we should have as cops, the people who should be cops, are the reluctant ones. People that can handle the job, but don't get off on power tripping like this bozo. Sorry If I offended any decent honest officers, but jeez.

No, you are right, that misuse of power is inexcusable, along with
the cruel & unusual punishment itself.
Two types become police officers, those who want to protect,
and those who want to exploit the power trip, as you wrote.
That creepy poor excuse for a "cop" needs to be stripped of his badge immediately & thrown in jail for assault, etc.
Bet he'll lose the attitude real fast.

I've met a few decent ones 🙂 maybe things are different in Britain.
Though, I have been stopped, asked for ID & searched recently, owing (i think) to an increased crackdown on terrorist activity.
NOT that I am a terrorist, you understand, but, what can I say. I had a beard, and I was wearing my army jacket...I obviously looked suspicious 😉

last time we had a thread like this it opened up a really ugly can of worms, sure you want to go there?
When I was a teenager, cops were like soooo uncool, man. But then I grew up into an adult and realized that when I obey the laws and don't go deliberately provoking them, most of them treat me pretty well. Cops are cool in my book.
