Dear Lord...what a sad spectacle! What would possess the poor man to drag himself before the camera in that condition? He looks gaunt and ill and his speech is still slurred from the stroke.
I've always liked Dick. He was a cool, competent and amiable master of ceremonies wherever he appeared...and one of only a few game show hosts who was never smug, smarmy or fatuous.

I need a drink.

I saw a little bit of that on the local news and was very sad to see Dick's condition. I have also long been a fan of his, and I hope that he will eventually recover his abilities more fully.

I was going to watch the show but I fell asleep and now I am glad I did. I too have long been a fan of Dick Clark going all the way back to when he hosted American Bandstand on ABC. I would rather remember him for how he looked and sounded before he had the stroke than to have seen and heard him like he is now.

He needs to give it up ... he can't be "the worlds oldest teenager" forever .. obviously!

It may be hard for him to give it up He's been doing it for how long? It may be the one thing in life he truly enjoys

No. He should not give up. Should Christopher Reeve have given up after his accident?

It is good to call attention to life's problems and get them out into the open. Only then will we strive to develop methods for helping those afflicted.

I watched Dick and had nothing but admiration for his fortitude.

true ... but there comes a point in ones life .....

.........even Ozzy is retiring!

the hollywood brother agrees he looked bad but once he got going, he had the same fire and good performance that he always does. The hollywood brother thinks that performing is what keeps him going and he may be messed up but when the camera roll,s the man gives it all he got just like he did when he hosted sock hops and american Bandstand right on the boardwalk in the great city of Wildwood N.J.

Dick Clark doesn't need the money because he has been a wealthy man for many years, he just enjoys what he does. I did not see him the other night but obviously the stroke has taken a toll on his physical condition as well as his voice and it would be great to see him make a full recovery.

god bless dick clark!Sure his stroke took it's toll...but NEVER give up something you love to do!He was there cuz he wanted to be where he belonged...with his fans and the people that loved seeing him for almost 50 years! It not about the money..it's about his passion.Hats off to the man for being so brave!

My only gripe is hearing that when the time comes for dick to say goodbye..they're replacing him on the show with RYAN SEACREAST??!!! WTF!!!?? That punk isnt a worthy replacement for dick clark?? Thats like replacing mick jaggar of the stones for...well...ME!..LOL

Im sure Dick Clark has come a long way to his recovery. It's been over a year since his stroke and I'm sure he wanted all his fans to see how far he has come. Yes. it was sad to see him that way, but im sure he knew the reaction would be mixed. Myself, I wish he would have remained behind the scenes. I'd rather remember the Dick Clark before the stroke then have to remember him the way he is now.

I felt very sad for Dick Clark. But this man is what made watching New Years Eve on TV an ok thing to do. Dick has, what, maybe a couple years of life left? I say let the man finish up his life by continuing on a tradition that he started. Here very shortly, ABC will offer just another celebrity New Years Eve program like other networks do, because there will be no more Dick Clark. So kudos, Dick for not letting life get you down.
