I'm with you, Steve. I have been following this story since it first hit national news on Monday morning, and this whole week I have been praying to God that the police or SOMEONE found her ALIVE and safe. When I heard the breaking news this morning that they found her body, and that she had been murdered, I started crying. I have a daughter myself, not far from Carlie's age, and I honestly don't think I could go on living if anything like this happened to her. I can not even imagine what her poor parents must be going through right now, not to mention what that poor innocent child was subjected to herself. It breaks my heart to even contemplate it.

There are times that all morality goes right out the window, and I firmly believe in 'an eye for an eye' justice. When it comes to crimes against children, I wish that law was in place. I sincerely hope this bastard gets what is coming to him. Unfortunately, no matter what they do to him, it will never be enough, nor will it ever bring poor little Carlie back.

May God be with Carlie's family during this emotionally destructive time. And may hell be warming the coals for Joseph Smith.

My uncle was a NYC cop for twenty years and opined that this f*ck should have been shot "while trying escape" before the ACLU, Barry Schreck and the Innocence Project, et al could get involved. That is why I am not in favor of the death penalty which i expressed in an ealier thread. I'm sorry I don't want to hijack this thread. I can't imagine what her parents must be going through. I have two kids myself and if anything ever happened to them I would be so pissed that the killer WILL WISH he was dead.

You have to think of it along the lines of "what if is this was your kid?"

I have to agree with Dave's comments as well. What's the problem with this "justice" system that a guy can have a rap sheet so long and be free to do something like this? It's enfuriating. No wonder cops sometimes act out and beat the crap out of some of these guys...not that I support that, just understand how it can happen.

It is the Swiss Cheese justice system in this country that allowed this piece of shit to roam free and in some degree should be held accountable, just like a captain is accountable for the actions of his crew to some extent.

I was joking in a way...there is not one chance in hell that this would happen, of course, so you can ONLY opine such a concept in a humorous manner, as I did. I do think that this would be a fitting end for this mutant, though.
Look, what the hell are we gonna have to do? We spend an inordinate amount of time in this country already worrying about the safety of our children. Are we going to have to put leashes on them?
So many of us live our lives in fear, about so many things. It's already started to have a debilitating effect. I don't see it getting better anytime soon.
I guess we can only do the best we can with what we've got. Amber alerts have helped. I'm glad something works.

Personally, I have a viscious sense of what I consider to be justice in these cases. I personally believe the punishment should fit the crime. Instead of this scum sucking pig getting a nice needle in the arm for brutally taking an innocent life, he should die the same way at the hands of his innmates.

Or, if it were left up to me, I'd take him downtown, hang him by the testicles, douse him with gasoline, and set him on fire with news crews and all the Internet access my heart desired!

I have absolutely no tolerance or mercy for a scumbag who gets off on overpowering, assualting, raping ,and killing children. At least if it were another woman (still wrong), he could have the luxury of dealing with another adult that could at least give him a run for his money. Rotting in hell would be considered passive punishment at this point.

We had a similar case in Ohio a couple of months ago with Shakira Johnson. Even though her mother was a crackhead buying a fix while her daughter was being raped and killed, her father a deadbeat bumb, and her stepfather about the same condition as the biological parents, this child did not deserve to die worse than a dog!

I hope Daniel Hines rots in hell. I wish he could be turned over to the community where Shakira lived. Some parts of that area are hard core, but the community is tight and everyone knows everyone else. I have some acquaintences who live there. The neighborhood still grieves for that poor child! By the time they got finished with him, maybe his dental records could be used to identify what they didn't feed to the stray dogs in the neighborhood!

I agree Steve. They would probably do better justice than the courts ever could. What really angers me is when they finally put them in prison but do so under "protective custody" Who was there to protect that little girl? I say, turn him loose in prison and let the inmates take care of him. Most of them have pics of their wives and children on their cell walls. Lets go back to "Fronteir Justice."

Every time I've known a case where a child goes missing, they've never been seen again. (Not alive anyway.) My views on crime and punishment are well known, but I would have little sympathy for this odious turd, whatever happens to him.

One thing you guys can be sure of, is that you'll see every second of his trial now. His trial, verdict and sentence will become the next highlight of "entertainment" in the courts, and you'll be able to see his piss-poor defence ripped to pieces. I'm not so sure I like being watched all the time, on the other hand, I don't go around doing stuff like this. Where the "system" didn't do much, the camera worked and possibly saved other lives.
