Prediction-You Heard It Here First

With the National League's win in the All Star Game last night, the NL will have home field advantage in the World Series for the first time in many years.

As baseball fans know, my Atlanta Braves have the best record in the NL. I predict that they will continue to do well. With last night's win in the All Star game for the NL, I predict that the Atlanta Braves are going to win the World Series in 2010, finally beating the New York Yankees after losing to them in 1996 and 1999.

I say this for three reasons. One, the Braves are a great team this year, and have spectacular pitching. Two, The home field advantage will make the difference, and, Three, the Braves will be extra motivated, to win the Series, to send Bobby Cox into retirement with a win in the World Series.

You heard it here first, Braves over Yankees. I believe this will be so.

Adding Alex Gonzalez to the mix will certainly help. One of the best defensive shortstops I've seen, and he's hitting the crud out of the ball this year.

I think Atlanta will be in the playoffs at the end of the season. But the playoffs are such a crapshoot, especially in baseball. Teams that are loaded with talent can suddenly struggle when the postseason rolls around - you know this firsthand, I think. But if you asked me the top 5 teams most likely to win the whole thing, Atlanta would be in the group, yeah.

BTW, Mitchell, how did you come to be a Braves fan living in Lancaster, PA (instead of the Phillies, Orioles or Pirates)?

I think you are predicting with your heart , not your head. I still believe the National League pennant goes through Philly .

They are just like my Rangers . Lets get them in the playoffs before we start picking them to win it all .

I believe in the American League its still all about the Yankees ( believe me I`m not thrilled to be saying that ) My Rangers just traded for the premier available ace in Lee and my only focus is to win the American League West .


I know you want it to happen and that s all well and good. But lets not put the cart before the horse

Backstep, I'm originally from the NYC area. I despise the Mets, and never liked the Yankees due to their payroll, and Steinbrenner. I've been a Braves fan since 1983, and I've only lived here since 1999.

Flock, I originally thought Philly was going to win it, but with all their injuries, I'm not so sure now. Plus, I think the Braves will be extra motivated, due to it being Cox's last year.

It could well be a Braves-Phillies NLCS. That wouldnt surprise me.

What did I say at the beginning of the season? Phillies win NL East in a walk. Things are different now. The Braves are playing great, and the Phillies have major injuries, plus, I think the Braves will be extra motivated, because it's Cox's last year.

I do not always say the Braves will win. Since I've been there, there have been plenty of times I didn't think the Braves were going to make it. This year, I just think they will.

As far as MAJOR injuries for the Phillies, Utley...is he done for the year? Happ is returning soon. What other major injuries? Did they lose Victorino? Did they lose Howard? Did they lose Halladay? Did they lose Werth? Polanco will be back next week. And all these MAJOR injuries you are talking about and yet you only lead the East by 4 1/2 games over the Phillies. Also, do you really think your team is better than the Dodgers or Rockies or Giants who you will have to deal with in the Wild Card? I certainly don't.

Braves are a nice story but gotta agree with numbskull about Phillies being there in the end .

Remember at the beginning of the season the Braves were horrendus . Now they are playing really really well. Chances are they fall in somewhere between the two

I agree the Braves wont be going to the World Series as some of you have said, but on that note i dont think the Phillies are going to the playoffs. I see the Reds,Cardinals,Braves and Padres getting in. If i have to pick right now the favorite out of those teams i say the Cardinals

American League is a 2 team race, Yanks or Rays just depends on who is hotter come playoff time

okay I read all the post to make sure no one mentioned it. I feel the need to point out that, well you said Atlanta has the most wins in the NL like it's such a comanding lead. You realize it's not right? I'm not a Padre fan but I feel the need to point out Atlanta only has one more win than them. I also feel like pointing out that there's still another half of Baseball to play. Anything can happen in that second half. The Rays could suddenly get in first in their division and beat up on the Yankees (which Dear God, I hope they do because I hate the Yankees), because the Rays are only 2 games below them or something. So, just to disagree with you since you're so sure since the Braves are in so much command of the NL, I'm going to say that it's the Padres and the Rays.

Oh and another note, why do you think the Yankees will lose to the Braves? The Yankees have really good players too don't they? Plus, both the Yankees and the Rays have a better record than the Braves.

One last note, personally, I'm just happy the Mariners are in last play of the AL West and Athletics aren't in last place lol... Because the Athletics are my team.
