Presidential debate

Hey Mr !!!! Can you so please explain why :
- Bush said that there were weapons of MD in Iraq and now people from his administration say there were not ( what was an evidence from the beginning )
- Bush said that Saddam Hussein was linked to 9/11 ( axis of evil sounds good eh for joining christians to his side ? ) that's why US have to invade Iraq what was totally wrong ( also admitted by his admin )

Whole world people agree that the election in 2000 was rigged except you. If Bush could he'll admit it but i doubt.

A note to punk: Admission requirements involve more than grades. Your SAT and ACT scores are part of it and the subjects you took in high school have to be well rounded and meet the entrance standards of the University you are applying too. Now if you are talking about his grade average while he was at Yale a C is a passing grade and that's all that really counts.

A note to alf: You have your opinions and I have mine. I won't bother to refute your comments because we would just battle back and forth on what you said and how I responded to it and frankly it's just not worth it.

Too easy............that has nothing to do with personal opinions.
You can't admit the truth that's the point.

No Alf that's not it at all, it all boils down what you believe when you read a newspaper or when you hear something on radio or see it on TV.

John D. Schmidt said:
Like I have said before MayDay you and I don't agree on any of the issues we have argued about and I am positive you and I would have diiferent opinions on anything you cared to mention. As far as the rest of your comments in post #172 and #174 while you are certainly entitlted to you own opinions they are like all the rest of your replys in that you disagree with me but always throw in a long winded self opinionated analasis of everything most of which is a bunch of hot air. The 2000 election was NOT rigged but people like you will never believe it. In closing yes I do read the newspaper everyday and I'd love to see your face if the headline of your November 3 newspaper reads "Bush Wins Second Term in Oval Office".

I know you've said that before. That's all you EVER say! Rhetoric is all I ever get from you.

What you call "long winded self opinionated analasis" I call "facts". You say "to-may-to". I say "to-mah-to".

"People like me". That would be the angry, fed up, masses who see Bush for what he really is. By the way, that comment just reeks of seperatism. Choose your words a little better.

As much as you don't want to believe it, that election was in fact rigged. Wanna know how it was done? They didn't count black voters who were registered democrats. How can they do this, you ask? By finding somebody in the U.S. with the same name who has commited a crime, then linking the two together so the vote won't count. So when a black person went to vote, the words "convicted felon" appeared next to their name, thereby nullifying the vote alltogether even though they were all clean. Wonderful democracy we have here, ain't it.

If it comes to Bush winning a second term, that won't be the headline. It will more than likely read "If You Need To Repent, Do It Now."

Saying that you don't even believe your own media sources. Tell me what's not at all ????
Hasn't Bush administation said few days ago that there were no weapons of md in Iraq ???? That Saddam was not linked at all with 9/11 ???? What else ?
That the attack on Iraq was a major error ??? All that was said, and you can't just admit it.
Damn all the media in the world talk about it include in the US !!!!! Do all say bullshit ???
Something wrong eh ?

As long as we've seen a second debate, I'd like to chime in on that. While I thought--after 2 viewings--that Bush definitely did better, I still thought Kerry was the more lucid, informed candidate. The most telling moment, in my opinion, was the abortion question. Kerry said that he understood and respected the woman's moral point of view, but as the President, he could not legislate that morality and had to uphold the law for all Americans, including those who couldn't afford it. Simple? I thought so. Bush's response? "Trying to decipher that." If I, as a reasonably informed voter, can make perfect sense out of Kerry's response and the President can't, what the hell does that say? Does the man not possess an ounce of nuance in his body? Again, on the partial birth abortion ban, Bush accuses Kerry of voting against it. Kerry explains that he voted against it because it contained no provisions for the health of the mother. Bush's response? "He voted against it." Bush sees the world in black and white, and that, in my opinion, is how a child sees it. Adults understand that there are gray areas.

And as rancorous as this thread may become, I think it's great for everyone to throw their opinions out there.

Yah that's the shameless truth !!!!
but JohnD won't believe it MayDay 😉

punk...who is it that doesn't have access to free education? Every single person in this country has a free education through grade 12. And then if they can not afford higher education there is financial help at the school, state, and federal levels. Granted if they are stupid and talentless they won't be aproved for a merit based scholorship but there are enough need-based scholorships and aid for those who need it. When I lived in California, for instance, I went to college for 2 years for only the cost of books.
Yes there are many meany people without health care. However many people who qualify for state funded health care are no getting it. Why? Who the hell knows. If I needed it and couldn't get health care elsewhere I'd be signing up.
My daughter was born prematurely and spent a month in intensive care after she was born. The bill she racked up was in excess of $150,000 and thanks to retroactive state aid and the private aid from the Catholic hospital I didn't owe them anything. That's a good thing considering my husband was just fired from his job. Compare that to China where, without money up front, a woman in labor will be turned away.
In any case we can thank Mr and Mrs Clinton for our health care system being in the disgusting state it's in.
But I digress...
Seriously you're going to find a tough time getting people to believe there is a way for the rich to outnumber the poor on a large scale level.

to say all people who are paying for college (or cant afford to pay) are stupid and talentless is a bit obscene. Going to college for free, or being rich enough to pay for it are not very common things. scholorships exist but they are competitive. a perfect example is bush, he is stupid but got to go to yale, whereas many people smarter than he, who may not be good enough for a yale scholorship could never go.

what im for is equal opportunity.

Who can go to school you ask? billions of people around the world.

Yes clinton is partly to blame for bad healthcare, anyone who doesnt believe in the right to medicine and a doctor for the sick is to blame, espeically those in power who view healthcare as a money maker.

China's healthcare is certainly deteriorating as they become more and more capitalist. it used to be free

i dont want the rich to outnumber the poor i want to get rid of the rich so there will be no poor, no war, no suffering.

Ps: Please don't be talking such nonsense saying "well all conservatives feel that.." or "all democrats need to learn that...". Nothing is black and white like that, everyone has personal opinions about issues thereof due to their own past experiences and future that is up and coming. You are all so set in your ways that you flaunt them and tell everyone that's how it is. Well the person you are flaunting to is thinking the same thing. You want to change their mind...but don't they want the same thing? Respect one another for goodness sake, because I don't think anyone is voting for one candidate over the other...snickering about how they secretly pray the whole world will blow up under the next persons demise. Everyone is voting how they feel best for the situation! So please...atleast try to see where they are coming from. YOU know if you are making a genuine effort.

If this guy, of all people, says someone's nuts I'm going to believe it.

Quite possibly. He's best known for writing "Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas."

How can you people even think of voting for Kerry? This is a man who changes position daily. This is a man who’s turned his back on his country and labeled our troops as nothing more than murders. He’s abounded us once and he’ll do it again.
Besides that Kerry and Edwards will be the richest President and vice president in history and if you think they’ll care about the average working family you'd better think again.

to say all people who are paying for college (or cant afford to pay) are stupid and talentless is a bit obscene.

It's rather foolish to say someone said something that they quite obviously did not say. If you were paying attention I said that someone could get merit based financial aid (as opposed to need based) unless they were particularly stupid and/or talentless.
Grants, scolorships, and financial aid are NOT all competetive or hard to get. Pretty much all students can fill out a FASFA (I think that's the acronym) and get federal financial aid. And many many schools have a need-based sliding tuition. And that's not even touching on student loans which aren't the best option as it puts you in debt after graduation but it IS an option.
Education is simply not hard to get in this country. And with that comes future opportunities. Playing the "bad luck" or the "but Im poor" cards won't get you very far. Anyone without a college degree can tell you that it is MUCH harder to get employed without that magical slip of paper. In many cases someone born wealthy but who never graduated will be behind someone born poor who did graduate when in line for a promotion. My husband faced this many times himself as he had to leave college before graduating.
Anyway, whatever tax bracket you were born in only affects someone for so long before they need to take charge of their own destiny. Of course many many many people just never get over that hump. This could be for many different reasons.
"getting rid of the rich" to create some sort of utopian communist society is a very child-like simplistic vision. No insult is meant by that, only that is is unrealistic.
And kudos to you, AR, for making sense. 😀 I'll forgive your voting choice just cause you're so darn cute. 😛

bhsballer,
Show me a politician who isn't rich. Whether Kerry is richer than Bush is irrelevant. They're both loaded to the gills. Who will govern better is the question. And as for changing positions, how many different reasons has Bush given us for the war? 1) Weapons of Mass Destruction 2)Regime Change 3)Freedom for the Iraqi people 4)Sadam was looting the oil-for-food program 5)Because I say he was dangerous. Whatever my misgivings about Kerry, Bush has already shown me his true colors and there's no way I can give him a second chance.

You haven't been paying attention have you? There's been a lot of posts in this thread so I think you'd better do some catching up before you unload like that.

Not all politicians are wealthy. At the federal level they are because we give them such rediculous salaries and even if they weren't born wealthy they built up a huge amount of wealth in their climb to the top.
However in New Hampshire I think the state government is as it used to be, practically unpaid. I think they get like $100 per year and they don't get reimbursed for their expenses related to the job. It's not full-time employment up there which is why they have a much more relaxed and free society. It's someplace I hope to move to if and when we leave New Jersey.

And however wrong the war is I don't think the Iraqi people are worse off without Saddam there. Life wasn't exactly peaches and cream for them and I hope that we at least achieve the goal of making life better over there.

I disagree of course. They haven't asked for war don't forget, and it was clearly proved that there were no weapons of md in Iraq so attack was wrong Bush's administration admit it.
Besides see what still happens in Iraq and tell me if it's so better for Iraqi people now.
I don't think.

By how exactly? Turning their homes into rubble?

Hi Mayday 🙂

I also used that part of ness quote you can't do it again 😉
Yah seriously JohnD writes that all that was said about Bush ( no wmd no links with Saddam ) is totally wrong in his way.
He says something like "it's boiling from all the media" etc ??? :weird:
Are you more normal and have you heard/read of it ?? ( from aliens sources cause only they have the right truth )
