Im not naming names, nor pointing the blame, but i know that some of you are not who you say you are.

Now there is a big difference between saying

and saying

I've never seen anything remotely like this uttered in the chatroom in the seven or so years I've been frequenting it. I've never seen anyone ask for lots of hot girls to PM with pics of their feet (an impossible action, as only Mods may file-transfer in PM) at all, regardless of what they claimed to be.

Sigh. Its a shame we live in a world like this.

Y'know, you people make such a huge deal out of this. I've cybered with people who turned out to be men, before; sure, it's a lousy thing to do, it's pretty dishonest. You're getting so worked up about it that you can't even tell you're not in the General forum.

I can't help but notice the pretty unpleasant reaction that m/m and, to some extent, f/m gets here. Maybe they feel like it's the only way to get any action. I don't feel like being tricked regarding someone's gender in a chatroom is a huge issue that's going to affect me once I log out and rejoin the real world. I'm also pretty sick of people I know for a fact to be women getting accused of being men because they ask to PC with other women... or they have an screen name that "no woman would ever use," whatever that's supposed to mean.

A real-life ex of mine once logged in and somebody cracked a joke that she must be a guy because she was using the pineapple icon. It was actually at attempt at poking gentle fun at those people who get up in arms about this like it's actually a serious (as in seriously impacting people in real life with healthy, objective viewpoints) problem. Somebody saw that, and latched onto it, didn't see the reason, just saw 'so-and-so is really a guy' and the subsequent heckling drove her out. Way to boot an intelligent, funny, gorgeous 21-year-old woman on her first visit; if you'd seen her pictures, you'd be kicking yourselves in your collective asses right now.

And... y'know, it needs to be said.

Sorry, guys, but some of the girls out there DO prefer other girls over you. And, yes, -every- f/f woman in the chat gets accused of being a guy, repeatedly. Every last one.

It happens, and not just on here. You can't stop people from lying and pretending, though I myself don't get what's so fun about that.

If I don't want someone to know about who I am or where I live, I just don't answer or say "I'd rather not tell you". Simple enough, right? Then I can maybe divulge that information later on if I'm comfortable enough. It's much harder to do that when you've said "LOL im 22 grl & luv f/f only lawls" already.

I'm just sorry you've run into people like that on here. That's one of the dangers of being online, though.

I totally agree with this post. Some people probably do remain anonymous or create different personas because they don't want people knowing who they are, but to me it's just weird for a guy to pretend to be a girl, or vice versa. If you can't get someone to talk to you by just being YOURSELF, there might be something wrong.

This is something that I can say that I have had a great deal of experiance with. If it was not for post like this and replies like the ones that I have read here, I would have just come to the conclusion that everyone is just a player or a want to be player. I still to this day have not recevied PM's back from a few others on here that are active daily. I have been told, I'm sorry I'll get back to you it will not happen again. ( still nothing in months and for a few over a year ) But the nice part is that even though they told me one thing and are doing another, thats not a problem for me, becaue I look at it this way. I have spoken to them on here and on the phone or on the mic in yahoo and have seen some on the webcam too. So I figuered that their interest in me is no longer an interest to them. I do know that they are real for who they say they are, though they did again tell me one thing and then do another. But again they are real. I have to agree, that in a differant post the comment was made that with all this technology out there, that if you can not afford a cheep webcam, or a cheep mic and your only willing to show pics of who you say you are, then chances are, you not that person. For me I do not have the best mic, or the best webcam, but I tell you the truth about who I am and such. ( you can always see me or hear me ) I sleep just fine as many here that lie do too, but the differance with me, the few that know me, know I'm real, even if I'm not what they are looking for. So Welcome all to the world of interetsing people or people trying to be interesting. I'm sure there are many basements that have computers, with pics of differant kinds of peolpe they want to be knowen as and hey they might even have a few wigs or other types of dress up stuff to make them feel pretty or muscular so they can get their motivation to be what or who they say thay are. The thing that made me think about this happened a while back when i realised that somebody on this forum, had a 'cheap' (and also it failed) website they set up (obviously to scam people out of their cash) which sold clips/pics of hot girls. Upon recognising a picture of one of these 'girls' i realsed ALL the girls wher jsut pics stolen from myspace. Since then ive just picked up on things.

Lying/pretending really is a scary thing. I think it's all about moderation. Harmless cyber chats and roleplaying are one thing, but there are people here who are eager to meet in real life who are not even close to who they say they are. I admit this is a sensitive subject for me because I have fallen victim to these people before. No physical harm or anything, but talk about losing your trust. I guess the only reason I'm replying here is to reinforce the idea of being careful who you meet and trust. Maniac, I'm sure these women (for the most part) aren't just blowing you off - it's just a scary world out there. That applies to men and women. I wish there was an easier way to know who's for real aside from actually showing your face.

I think some men do it too, just less.
