Pretention and Tickling Stories

This is not an attack on anybody. I could be wrong.

I've been around the TMF in some form or another for almost a decade. I used to be mostly interested in the story section, but not so much these days. Has anybody noticed there there seems to be a growing trend of stories with a particular pretentious-seeming style? Stoties that tend to have characters using that faux-aristocratic diction and ticklers who are all unflappably calm and calculating?

If you don't know what I mean, I'm talking about characters who use the phrase "my dear" constantly, as in "my dear, I'm afraid you're in no position to demand anything." Or characters who begin sentences with a superfluous "why," as in, "why, whatever do you mean?"

I could be way-off, but it seems that the majority of stories being written by our lovely members subscribe to this style. I think we should encourage a little experimentation. I'm always relieved to see people trying to write little rhyming couplets of tickling fiction, or stories that are more down to earth.

Branch out, people! Stop using the old tropes! 😀 😀 Anyone else feel this way?

I feel this way but then this isn't the main beef I have with stories, the main beef is how they're all so damn predictable. I mean yeah I get that there will be tickling but 85% of them follow the same few patterns.

Also, people should really start reading tropes and learning to subvert them. 😀
