Well, an assclown is the sort of person who thinks they are better than a new member, simply by virtue of having a lot of posts and an earlier date next to their name. Similar to a douchenozzle in most respects.

*Heh* Trust me , m'man ... there are precious few people on this planet that I think I'm better than.

Thanks for presuming otherwise , though.

Now if you'll excuse me , I don't normally socialize w/users who have less than 5000 posts , so ... GOOD DAY to you , sir!

Random Street Feet.....Creepy.

I'd be wondering if there were warts on them, and would be tempted to spray them with a flowery scented arisol, then run away.

I dunno where they've been, and considering they are completely bare, hanging out at a random street....it screams dirrrrrty.

What escapes me then, is if you do not feel that you are better than anyone else, why is it that you are acting like you are? Why the sarcasm about new TMF'ers? If you could explain that to me, I would be very appreciative.

Honestly , I think you're taking some of my comments waaayyy too seriously.

My advice? ... take a step back & approach this thread & my posts in a more whimsical manner. :juggle:

If that doesn't work , then lather , rinse , repeat. :bubbly:

How can I step back any farther than asking you to explain something? I get that the op had some interesting diction, to say the least, but why is that relevant to his "newness" to the forum?

I'm starting to get the impression that you are not my biggest fan. 🙁

Since you missed it the first time :

I don't dislike you personally at all. Not until you give me reason to anyway. I just think that your statement could be taken as you making fun of people, which isn't very nice, and could drive people away from posting. I know that people saying things like you did is what drove me to lurking for the longest time, and changing my handle three times since '01. I just don't want to see members making other members, especially new ones, feel like they are unwelcome. It is hard not to take that mentality seriously. Forgive me if I seem antagonistic, that is hardly my goal. I just want to understand you.

(also, I think you should look up the word whimsical, or at the very least go read some E.E. Cummings to get a better idea as to what that word means.)

Sorry to learn of your prior negative experiences on the TMF , Tidas. You seem to have come out of your 'lurking' shell quite successfully , so ... kudos to you on that. I think it's good that you've decided to become a regular poster. The more people that contribute to the forum only serves to make it more interesting & varied ... & therefore , more enjoyable.

I'm also sorry if you ... or anyone else , for that matter ... took offense to my initial statement. It was not intended to make fun of anybody , but rather to poke fun a bit. It's been my experience that some good-natured joshing is usually a suitable way to help someone feel that they are welcome & that they are part of the group. I understand if not everyone agrees w/that sentiment , though.

... but in my opinion , the ideas proposed by the OP were funny ones & worthy of some good-natured joshing. I don't feel as if I was doing anything to potentially drive away anyone from posting.

(also, I think you should look up the word whimsical, or at the very least go read some E.E. Cummings to get a better idea as to what that word means.)

I , um , was using "whimsical" in the sense of being amusing or playful or light-hearted. I meant to suggest that when reading my posts , you keep that in mind ... rather than coming at them from such a serious angle.

I take it I used that word incorrectly , then?

In light of your explanation of your intentions, your notion that you were being whimsical makes slightly more sense. If you are trying to be good-natured though, I would suggest that you dial down the sarcasm in the future. On the internet it is kind of hard to catch tone and context, so you can be easily misconstrued. No hard feelings though, just trying to look out for the new people. :lion:

... & that's cool. Looking out for fellow members is totally admirable & noble & it's something I applaud you for doing.

I'm somewhat curious , then , as to why other responses to this thread didn't inspire you to rise in defense of the OP as quickly as mine did :

- several times , the OP's idea was considered to be "creepy"

- in another post , a member made use of emoticons to poke a bit of fun

- a separate thread was created after this one where the title of it seems to suggest that the idea in this thread is insane

- & perhaps the greatest affront of them all : the posting of a David Hasselhoff video ( 😛 at Skip )

Any one of those I might consider to be something that could potentially drive someone away from posting moreso than , "I love new TMFers. 😀". Was it your own , earlier experiences you mentioned before that drew you to single out my response? ... or was it something else?

If you could explain that to me , I would be very appreciative.

That's actually a pretty good question. I guess yours just stood out as not a problem with what he was even talking about, but an attack on him personally. Someone thinking his idea is creepy is a problem with his idea, not him for being new. I missed the emoticon one altogether I suppose. The Hoff is despicable to say the least, but he was pretty awesome in Knight Rider, so he's excused. The other thread title irritated me too, but I figured I had made enough people angry with this one, and even though the name of Viper's thread seems to be making fun, It isn't a direct personal attack. Your response stood out because it was overtly sarcastic and aimed at the op rather than the content of his post. I guess that is why it stood out. It just irritates me to see people picking on other people on here, that's all. I really hope there are not hard feelings about this, it really is not personal to me.

Lol. Not even close.

No hard feelings whatsoever , m'man. I'm much too simple for 'em.
