Quentin Tarantino...

I've never really seen any Tarantino films. I TRIED to watch Sin City, (which he guest-directed, not that I cared too much) but I simply couldn't hold out for more than forty-five minutes or so. The movie was nothing but kicking ass and staring at ass. And "kicking ass" doesn't do the film's gore-factor justice.

His newest film, Hostel, looks simply God-awful. People being tortured for an entire movie with drills and other qestionable devices...yeah, I'll stick to my cartoons.

Sin City and Hostel are NOT Tarantino films; he's only associated with them. If you want to see GOOD Tarantino flicks that aren't quite as gory or violent as his later work, watch Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, and the other movies that are from earlier in his career.

QT also grew up going to drive ins and watching very great and very bad films all through the 1970s, when exploitation & gruesome stuff - for it's time - was pushing the envelope. He'd be a little kid, 6, 7, 8, and his mom would be taking him to see R rated movies. It's part of his personal culture. Write what you know.

I for one thoroughly enjoy gorey movies. I've always been fascinated with such things. Was it the old movie "The annihilator" where the hero lowered a crook into an industrial meat grinder? Too bad they didn't show anything beyond his plea for mercy. Also in "The Mangler" The ragged contents of Ms. Frawly being shown laying at the end of the speed ironer is interesting but, not realistic. I've read the story several times and can tell you that there would be no sewing her back together. I was also disapointed with the lack of gore in the movie "Christine". The book was extremely and pleasantly graphic. :evilha:

I guess I'll have to see those Kill Bill films after all. They sound interesting. That new movie, Hostel, I saw the ad for it lastnight. Looks like it might be about abduction and torture. Guess I'll find out soon enough! 😀

Come to think of it, I can't really think of any movie right off that's gore seemed real to me but, on the other hand, anime gore can be nice at times. Akira is good for that as is Angel Cop, Fist of The North Star, The Professional, Vampire Hunter D and a few more out there.

Man fist of the northstar is at the level of humor with "are u kidding me with this" with the gore, i mean kenshiro touches a guy and all his arteries and such start exploding, quite redick but a great movie, they tried to make a live action version of it, decent storyline being close to the origional but naturally i didnt do the anime justice. You never seen audition or ichii or battle royale for examples of of real gore?

I highly recommend true romance as one of the early films by him to see, very few christian slater flicks i can stand. Plus it is completely devoid of that damn horrible story telling motif he does, where he intro's characters then decides to side track to tell sep stories., and i wonder who tarintino has sucked off to get all these top tier actors in his movies, i mean gary oldman, val kilmer, travolta, samuel jackson, the list goes on. Did tarintino have some credit to natural born killers? I wanna say he was associated with it the same as he is associated with hostel

Im surprised nobody has mentioned the Troma movies for gore

I mean comeon, toxic avenger, sgt kabukiman NYPD, Cannibal the musical(beginning)

I didn't mention True Romance because he didn't act in, or direct, that movie. But he was the writer, so maybe I shouldn't have left it out. My bad. 😀

As for Natural Born Killers, he wrote the story, but not the screenplay, for it.

Go here to look at Quentin Tarantino's credits: http://us.imdb.com/name/nm0000233/

I didnt know the main topic was movies he was in and such, just what he was associated with, who the hell was he again in pulp fiction? I been waiting anxiously for almost a year now to see inglorious bastards

I think Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez are the two most overrated directors of all time.

i don`t want to get into this but.....

Despite how much tarintino loves to steal ideas from japanese movie ideas\plots, he will never come close to the genius of street fighter or any takahasi miike films(audition or ichii the killer)

he does not hide that he was inspired by "this" director or "that"movie.also as IrishTickle said.."he make movies he`d like to see"

besides....KILL BILL was his version of any 70`s "chop socky fantasy flick"...which is why Gordon Liu and Sonny Chiba were in it.

To each his own, but I do think he is obsessed with movies that are sick in my opinion. He makes money in the end, but I can't stand watching mindless mutilation. The kill bills were good, but other than that the rest don't seem to have much of a plot. But I must admit I haven't watched to many of his movies.

Okay, my apologies for misunderstanding. I read something wrong somewhere in the creditions to the movies(I wouldn't have mentioned his name if the movies hadn't credited him in some way).

But my point still stands: those films are pointlessly gory. They're gross. And he IS associated with them. And I don't know why anyone would (I mourned Bruce Willis and Jessica Alba working in those films).
