I think our *cough cough* "left-wing" chancellor, Mr. Schroeder, has proven that there's no room for anything but pro-American sentiment in international (and national) German politics. Not that there's anything wrong with being pro-American, but I would have expected just what you stated, Strel - a far more critical look towards your country from our (alledged) left-center government.
Mr. Fisher, indeed a member of the left-wing Green Party, has managed to attract a lot of flak from his fellow party members. The Green Party is in major troubles right now. It was always a split party, as befitting one made up out of strongly individual people. The current situation in our political landscape is one of stagnation. Major changes are virtually unheard of, and no matter which party is in power, the problems aren't solved. Debates in the Bundestag (our Parliament) are mostly exchanges of polemics.
I've always voted for the APPD (the Anarchistic Pogo Party of Germany), and I will remain trying to get them to the top. They have beer. And I intend to drink it.
