Question for the TMF tickle fiction contributors...or writers in general

So as a relatively new tickle fiction contributor, i'm curios if any of the other writers suffer from this/a similar malady. When working up the tickle scenarios in your mind, do you find yourself getting a tad turned on? I've found that it's sometimes hard to concentrate, to be honest, since my imagination kicks in to overload, and i find myself distracted by the mental picture of my characters.

Maybe this is normal...or maybe i'm just a goofball, lol! Who knows. Anyway, just curious.

Cheers, -Pete

That's half the fun though isn't it? I'm not that great with the pen, but I did write some erotica for someone recently that had me really excited!

I use that as a guide. If I'm not getting excited by a key action (tickling) scene in one of my stories, then it likely isn't very good and needs more work. The revision may be in the scene itself or in its set-up.

I know what you mean, pedman,.... and I'm fairly sure it's normal. One good strategy for at least minimizing the effect is to "work out" the story and its various scenarios before actually starting to write a draft. This may be slightly easier when writing stories which are based on actual events,... but probably even more useful when dealing with pure fiction. Maybe what I'm suggesting is to "get it out of your system" first,.... haha,... and then write. It also helps if you enjoy the craft of writing as much as you enjoy the subject matter.

A bad sign would be not feeling "distracted" at all, and having to constantly guess, "is this what would seem appealing?" "Will readers like this?" "How do I write what readers will like?" That would be a sign you should probably switch to writing what makes you feel like you're saying you feel.

Oh, are you kidding? All the time. 🙂 It's a great feeling- knowing my Erotica gets me going.

I don't necessarily find it distracting. It helps my creative process.

But I do try to divide up my works. Mostly, I write up to the tickling scene and stop, then I'll write the tickling scene at another point in time... and usually the after bits (if they happen) later. Mostly because of what you said, yeah. I can't concentrate on non tickling elements when I start becoming aroused. Which is fine, but at that point I want to focus solely on the tickling and I'm not always there or always ready, or haven't worked it out or-

Creative process is a pain in the ass sometimes. I dunno.

I tend to think out my writings structures in advance, building the general form in my head. If something arouses me, then it will be in that part of things.

Once I start to type, it's all structure, and I'm detached from the work as it's in process. Once done, and I'm doing clean up reads and edits, I might find arousal in my words then.

Heya TMF writers,

THANKS for the encouraging and informative feedback! It's very helpful to know that this is a common malady, and i find myself gleaning useful tidbits of info and advice from each and every one of your sentiments. Greatly appreciated.

Cheers, -Pete

This.

Not really lol. I'm too focused on how I'm wording the things I'm writing than focusing on the sexuality for the words. Until I read my story over. And even then, because I wrote it, for some reason it doesn't "do" much for me.

But maybe I'm weird 0.o

See, although I do a fair amount of what ticklemyfancy mentioned while writing the first draft, most of my focus upon words and how they work together comes out during the editing process.

But then my first draft is largely a skeleton. I make it as good as I can but the goal isn't a complete piece.

Of course! It took about 5 years for me to write that friggin Cowboy Boots story. I nearly went blind twice and had to take three weeks off work due to RSI!

😛

Well, this doesn't happen to me often, but that is cuz I usually write non-fiction. But, I may just try my hand soon. But knowing me, my analytically minded side would take over the imagination side with a an emphasis on story/sentence structure, narrative, characters blah blah blah!

But all you can do when it happens is ride it out or sit back and take a few deep breaths and cool down. But the later won't be nearly as fun and probably won't get the creative juices flowing as much.
