Question on Infidelity

I've seen in my life, men are called many names when they cheat, but women are assumed to have a 'reason'. I saw on Oprah a few weeks ago(yes, I watch at times) a show on real desperate housewives, a woman said she had an affair for some time on her husband, Oprah said, if a man cheats he's called a dog, do you think thats what you are? She said no, I just felt like I wanted more, I had a good husband and good kids, I just wanted more.

Why is there such a double standard?

Probably because men are seen more as "needing" sexual fulfillment than women are. In my book, though, if you aren't happy, do something about it. Don't play games and cheat. It sucks big time, no matter whhich partner is doing it.

I agree 100 percent Ann. No matter who does it... its cheating and everyone is going to get hurt in the end. That is so much my philosophy and its what I did. If its that bad, like it was for me, just get out.

It's kind'a like the deabeat dad Myth. Course, thats not to say that there aren't deadbeat dads, Just that a woman who drops her kids off on the husband and doesn't pay child support is more socialy acceptable. Meanwhile a guy who doesn't have the money can be raked over the coles by the government.

What that lady on Oprah said makes a bad name for all of us.. I've NEVER cheated... ever ever.. I've been in long term relationships. And I can honestly say I'll never cheat. I don't believe in the double standard, what applies to one should apply to all.

True Cosmo but then there are some of us that fight to have the father even see the kids and I personally give my ex part of my child support back IF he does have them for any length of time for food and stuff. It is a difficult situation all around and there is blame on both sides. In both this and the cheating, it seems to be human nature now days.
